Esterbrook Estie w/Journaler Nib Trial

I have been thinking of starting a branch of it in the States, but I am a little worried about liability. I'm going to pester the guy who runs the one here in the UK to get an idea of how complicated it is.

Oh no. I am so sorry about your eye. I hope it heals up quickly and you fully recover. Love the DIY easel! That should help you out. I’ve also been curios about the journaler nib. I almost bought the Estie tortoise just to get one. I don’t need anymore pens! I have more than I ever thought I would have. I need to sell some of them. Like 30+ of them. Get better and if you can’t film we will be here waiting when you get back to it.

I got my nib and I really like it. It feels much smoother than I remember the SIG nib. And the line variation on mine is quite visible.

I've been meaning to to set up a rings situation to log my pen/ink history and seeing yours was delightful! i love how you did that. thank you for this video it was very informative, i have been curious about the journaler nib but as a fellow member of the non-lateral grip club, i don't know if i could rock with it LOL! as it is, i can't even squeak out a line with a stub 🤣

I have had success with a TWSBI stub, but I know what you mean. The Lamy stubs hate me! For some reason the Franklin Christoph SIG nib works perfectly for me!

I hope your eye is getting better! I like both the journaler and the sig nibs, but I like the way my handwriting looks with the journaler better. The journaler nib feels smoother, even the sig nib can feel sharp to me sometimes. (lefty problems, maybe) you said something about “I think you just like the capping”, and i hate the capping. I like the seal you get from it, but i dislike having to do an extra push of the cap to get it to engage. 😂 thanks for the video!

You are the only person I have heard say that about the capping! Interesting! It was my favourite part of the pen, but I am a gadget freak! I felt like the threads were really bugging my fingers. I might be giving up on trying to underwrite. I am not enjoying it all. I was trying to explain why I was doing it to my husband and he said, "you are trying to change the way you've written your whole life to be able to try a nib?" It all of a sudden sounded a little ridiculous. I just wanted flex to work for me.

OH honey I'm so sorry to hear about your eye you should take some time and rest the pens will be here tomorrow I've been a physician for 15 years and I can tell you that everyone heals differently but take your time enjoy the time you have and I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

I hope your eye heals quickly. If you are wanting to play with different nibs I got a pilot plumix calligraphy pen in medium, very inexpensive and swapped the nib and feed into a jinhao pen body that I already had, absolutely loving the way the nib makes my handwriting look. Just another option for you to think about. I believe it is the same nib as the pilot prera with the CM. Hope the journaling easel worked for you.

Oh my gosh! I have that pen and completely forgot about it! I think I will stick that nib in a Kakuno and give it a whirl in September. I don't like the shape of the Plumix. Which Jinhao did you put it in? I tried to put a FPR Flex in an x750 and it was an epic fail! My friend managed it though.

@@cerealnana I put it in an x750. I also have an x750 with the good blue flex nib in. Both work just fine. I know Chris Saenz has the plumix nib in a kakuno at the moment and is also loving it. I think I might be tempted to also get the fine!

Sorry to hear about your eye and I hope it heals well and quickly! This was a great video to watch - I have also been wondering about the Journaler nib. I'm not a fan of Esties - the rounded ends are meh to me.

I'm not super into rounded ends, but I was able to accept it in the platinum 3776. I don't really go for the cracked ice resin look, but this pen was prettier than I thought it was going to be. I can get behind the retro vibe they have going though, which is why I would do the Tortoise if I did any of them.
