Road trip to Estes Park passing through the peak to peak highway.
Hiking and painting at the quaint town in an autumn afternoon.
It is that time of year when the leaves start changing color near Estes Park, Colorado. The aspen trees turn a stunning hue of yellow among the evergreens. The fall colors here are quite different from those in Canada, where I lived for a long time before moving here.
I saw so many elk as soon as I arrived. They came in herds, with one male and his harem of multiple females. There were babies tagging along as well; one was being nursed while standing in the flowing stream. The bystanders, including myself, stopped on the sidewalk, being absolutely not discreet at all, filming these adorable animals.
I decided to sit by the water wheel in Estes Park to do my watercolor. It is situated on the edge of downtown, so I was able to sit there and relax hearing the natural sound of the water running through the wheel.
The drive on the peak to peak highway was a bit intense, the mountain roads were, well, mountain roads. But I understood why many locals regarded that highway to be the place to go in fall. I stopped many times along the way to get some drone shots - the scenes were too beautiful not to be recorded in my album.
