I can just hear the hotel manager upon hearing the news that somebody stole the door plaque to room 217: "Oh no... Again?!"

I watched it 10 15 times The Shining of 1997, I love this movie and this hotel and this music , it 's a little pity that everything has changed , the rearrangement happened almost like in the movie , but of course the permutation has been supplemented a lot , what a pure and mysterious , and always reminds this 1997 film The Shining .

Hopefully you mean the mini series. Kubricks film was in a different state at a vastly different lodge. Thanks for watching.

Durty Kurty yeah kubricks was a set but was based off the ahwahnee hotel and the extirior was based off the timberline lodge and this lodge was used for the open helicopter shots.

I know that this hotel is the real inspiration for the Overlook but it just doesn't scare me for some reason. Now the Timberline Lodge in Oregon is a different story. Chills.

I just don't understand why the fuck the cars were dragged there and where Denis's room is, and in general, whether there is this room or the room in which they lived. It would be better to leave everything as it was in the 1997 film , of course , there is still an addition , but still almost everything is as it is in the film .

I agree 1000% they should have left it as it was from the 1997 film. Bot cool they think they had to change and remodel and change the outside topiray etc.

That is interesting to see the inside, it looks nothing Like the movie. Except for the trees and the road you filmed at the start. Those reminds me of the opening shots in the shining

Thank you to those that have watched this. I wasn't expecting over 600 people to see this. I did want to add some things. Tho I don't believe in the super natural, there are some things in this video which are very bizarre, they are the following: At 11:24 - I am walking to room 217, the family in the mirror doesn't move (As if they were completely still, stuck in time) which I didn't catch when editing. There is also the missing man. At 14:10 you can clearly see a man sitting down at a table. You can see his hat goes above the mid-section on the wall where the wood trim separates the two toned wall paper. I turn around at 14:17 and he is completely gone. I can't explain where he went, or how that occurred. There is a certain type of feeling when walking thru this hotel completely alone that is hard to explain, especially when you walk up to the third floor. Again, I don't advocate that the Stanley Hotel is 'haunted' because I simply don't believe in such a idea.... It is strange however that my short time at the Stanley had a certain type of energy that flowed throughout when walking thru it alone. Thanks for watching.

Durty Kurty for someone who claims to not believe in the supernatural you sure made some odd observations. You say the family in the mirror doesn’t move. Right before you actually catch them in the mirror, you also caught them in real time & the lady standing is clearly moving her right arm. As for the sitting - you state you don’t know where he could’ve gone? There’s a stairwell right there.

This is a great video and much appreciated. However, in my personal opinion, THE SHINING is great so much more because of Kubrick than King. Don't misunderstand...I love the novel, but Kubrick's film so a thing of absolute beauty. That being said, the Stanley may have been King's inspiration, but it is far removed from what Kubrick brought to the screen. The TV version of the Shining was rather disappointing tp me.

The Stanley is a gorgeous hotel, but honestly it reminds me more of The Titanic than The Shining. The decor is very early 20th century, more around the time of the Titanic, than the 1920s.

On the commentary for the mini series, the director Mick Garris mentions that they had rented out the place for 2 weeks during the filming process. I don't believe you were able to rent a room during that time.

They put in the hedge maze around 2016, those are the green trees you see growing up front. You can go to their website and see the story of the maze. Or lookup Stanley Hedge Maze on youtube and there are video tours of it. It's nothing like in the movie.

If you prefer watching Jack Nicholson play himself, and then have two irritating characters that no one cares about, then I guess you're right. Otherwise, the book and the mini series give character development, and watching Jack turn is actually surprising, and interesting. With Kubricks film, it's not a shock at all that Jack turns. The scares also suck, like the music making a loud noise just to show 'Tuesday'. Terrible movie.
