They were such a beautifully groomed and handsome singing duo. I love the styles of the early/mid sixties -suited Esther and Avi -they were so photogenic and timeless - it is as though this was yesterday, today or tomorrow. I would have loved to have met them when they resided in Geneva.

❤ oh, das hätte ich damals auch gerne, aber das Taschengeld reichte nicht für ihre Konzerte nur für Ihre Schallplatten❤❤

One of the best duos that I'm aware of. They ruled my life in Stuttgart in 1963-66.

This song reminds me of my childhood. My father had a tape from Esther Ofarim that he often played in his car when we were traveling with the whole family to the beach. I do not think I've heard this voice for 40 years! Yeah, I'm fucking old :)

Right in the train I got tears in my eyes Trying to read a letter from my home If the train runs me right I'll be home by tomorrow night 'Cause I'm 900 miles from my home And I hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow … This train I'm on is a hundred coaches long Hear the whistle blows a hundred miles If the train runs me right I'll be home by tomorrow night 'Cause I'm 900 miles from my home And I hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow … On you my watch and upon you my chain On you my golden diamond ring If the train runs me right I'll be home by tomorrow night 'Cause I'm 900 miles from my home And I hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow … Right in the train I got tears in my eyes Trying to read a letter from my home If the train runs me right I'll be home by tomorrow night 'Cause I'm 900 miles from my home And I hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow And I hate to hear that lonesome whistle blow

She is so good it is ridiculous....as for the two of them together....is it strange I had the thought, 'I wonder what Joni Mitchell and her husband sounded like in the early 60s?'

Yes, it's a great song. I don't know who wrote it, it's one of those traditional American folks songs and has been performed by Woody Guthrie, Odetta and even Dion, among others. But forgive me... here are two ISRAELI singers, introducing a traditional AMERICAN folk song, and they're speaking GERMAN???? I know that they spent the bulk of their performing years in Europe, and Abi has lived in Germany all this time since they split up in 1970. But... GERMANY???? Considering... well...
