David's (and Woods') music has carried me through some very tough times. At present I am struggling with unexpected loss of job and mounting debt. But somehow I put on the Green album or '5' and my troubles are put in perspective. I am also a later arrival to Woods, but they are quickly becoming my favorite band. Truly poetic lines and great music. Such a rarity these days. I mourn right along side the Woods community of fans and family.

I normally don't comment or respond on KZbin videos, but I feel the need to say thank you. I just recently discovered your son's music, and it has deeply impacted me. I love music. Real music made by real people. It's what I live for. So much of the music available now is soulless commercialized garbage. There's no heart in it. Woods of Ypres is what it's all about. Real music, lovingly crafted by real artists with something to say. It will be one of the great regrets of my life that I never got the privilege to meet your son. But I'm eternally grateful to have the fragments he left behind in his lyrics and songs that will live on forever. David Gold. David Gold. David Gold. \m/

Dearest Brandon, David said these exactly words," Mom, there are many messages in my music for those who need to hear them..." I was so proud of David since he was a little boy, then to become the amazing man he was. I continue to feel proud knowing my son continues to inspire and motivate. David will live forever, through his music.Follow your dreams Brandon, live passionately, Mama Gold( David, Michael, Laura and Marie's Mom)

Hello Esther, I can imagine what you are going through. It is tough to see how much this lost is consuming your life. It is even tougher to say let go and let God. What you are going through, you'll grow through. God is going to heal what the Devil has done. Remember the Devil's job is to Kill, steal and destroy. Let this be a little encouragement.

David Gold was Woods of Ypres, he's my Hero, thanks to his music i have gain wisdom, he made me see life as a great gift no matter how hard it gets and i know he would say that "a moment of silence for the dead but not one moment more, the dead are to be forgotten", but i can't, no one should forget David Gold, he deserves much more than a moment of silence, RIP.

Dear Heart 7, I agree David deserves more than a moment of silence. I posted before, when one dies their life ends, but that death never ends for the survivors. We continue to," love the living," but now live life with a huge loss." Thank you for honoring David, and finding the life lessons you need to hear in his lyrics.Love to you, from MamaGold

Esther Gold I've only semi recently (within the past year) got into Woods of Ypres to discover the amazing music and heart that goes into this music. There are times I just love to sing along to all of David's music and i get this odd feeling of happiness and yet sadness. I only wish I knew about them sooner.. deeply sorry for your loss, and the loss of a brilliant musician.

Esther Gold Hi, Esther. This is Patrick Dillon Edwards, a Gothic Rock musician. I want to let you know that Peter Steele was something else, and Jeff Hanneman was a guitar god, but David's music took it a step further. Dave had the ability to shatter someone and piece them back together in one song. That's inhuman talent on a whole other level. When I look at Dave with longer hair, he reminds me of Kurt Cobain, another great musician. I'm American, but I would like to look into funding something like they did with Kurt Cobain and make an entrance sign outside of Sault Marie that says "love the living while they're still alive" or something similar as a tribute to David. Not everyone will like his music but I feel as though anybody can have some sort of connection with his message. My favorite actress AJ Cook(Who's also my future lover, yes I'm a bad boy ;) and I hope to hire her for a music video) is from Oshawa. When I get to know her, regardless of the fact she's a christian and I'm not and neither was David, I will introduce her to this music, because while I know she'll hate it, I also know she'll be able to connect with the message behind the music.

As a mother of two boys I can't even imagine how hard this would have been to do. I am beyond impressed at how well she kept it together while making that speech. I just discovered this band a few days ago and even though I knew nothing about David, finding out about his death, saddened me a lot. I feel a strong emotional connection to the music. I have spent a few hours just watching old interviews, and can't wait to discover new songs and fall in love with their music!

For some reason, every summer I come back to this band and while I listen to them I feel at home, David offered many truth's in his music that some musicians just don't do nowadays. David continues to inspire me everyday and taught me what to value in life, I'll be getting a commemorative tattoo as he deserves recognition for molding a part of me. Hi, my name is Christina and I come from the Czech Republic, eastern Europe. My hubby played Davids music to me one day and i instantly knew that this is one of the best songs i have ever listened to. Davids lyrics are so touching and many songs are as if they would be written out of my life. We will pass on Davids music to our kids and our kids will pass it on to their kids so that his legacy never dies. Its said that when somebody dies young, its because the Gods missed him and took him back:)

Esther, I plan on returning to Canada very soon. I'm an Australian who came in contact with Woods Of Ypres while living in Vancouver. I would be honoured to have the opportunity to visit the resting place of David to show my appreciation by taking the special trip accross the world, then the country. You and the band do not understand the level in which his music has altered my life. I am an actor and my career is blossoming because of the ethereal connection I have to David's words.

Dear Terry , thank you for your thoughtful message to me . Sorry for your recent losses. I do believe people learn about David and his music at a time that is perfect for them as a time one may need to hear a message in the music. How true when life is going well, we enjoy hearing the music, and when we must face a challenge we listen more closely to the lyrics. May we all work with our challenges and welcome small glimmers of joy on a daily basis. Because I must, personally, live life where, “ grief and joy coexist, “ I remind my self I have freedom and with no apology to feel what I feel. May we all decide to go on a perfect chosen path on our journey where there are,” living trees.” And “Love the living ,” including oneself with attention to self care and unselfish self love. ❤️

Dearest Giggles, they say tears are gifts for those who have died. In David's case, as the expression goes."when we were born, we cried..." Then when we die, we would hope," thousands will cry." I cry several times a day, as I miss my son, and I have no problem to admit that this Mother's expressions of deep sorrow are very normal. David urges us to " love the living..." As we do, we still will forever, miss him. Best to you, Mama Gold ( David,Michael, Laura and Marie's Mom)

Really? This video is almost like a funeral for those of us who didn't have the privilege of attending his real funeral. And as such, do you go to a "funeral" and tell others "nah, he wasn't that good"? Go on another of his music videos and do that, but leave this memorial alone. We all came here to mourn the loss of a musician who was very talented in music and lyrics, regardless of what you think. He had the ability to write really good riffs and then supported those riffs with even greater lyrics. He reminds me of Dead; the reason the music is so good is because it's personal and something I, as a Goth Rock musician myself, can identify and sympathize with. It basically tells me, "Hey, someone out there has had to battle drug addiction, sex addiction, depression, and suicide just like you." Of course you wouldn't know because you're just an emo who is "dark" but has no real problems except for the fact that your boyfriend broke up with you. It's very hard for me not to ask you to just go drop dead.
@patrickedwards8518
@patrickedwards8518 10 жыл бұрын
Joseph Bateman I respect your beliefs, and while I can connect on a personal level to Dave's music, I will never be like him. I have something my psychiatrist would call the "dark triad"(the bad boy/ con man personality type). Not the best thing to reveal about yourself, but I am strictly using it for this situation. The difference between me and Dave is that he was a wonderful, selfless human being while I am the type of guy who all the girls wanna have sex with but at the same time would to date. David had a lot of friends, while I don't because my attitude commands respect more than it commands empathy. And honestly, my goal has always been isolation; I don't like most people, and womanizers like myself naturally put themselves above others, so please don't take my selfishness the wrong way. It's not by choice.
