Thank you for this educational review of my video, Cassandra! I’m still learning every day how to take better care of myself while taking care of the environment as best I can. My video was never meant to be a tutorial which is why I didn’t share all of the recipes (btw the face wash was just bentonite clay and spirulina... never coffee grounds!). But I understand that putting that online does encourage people to do the same and I take more care and detail in my content now. This video is about 2 years old at this point and I’ve definitely made changes to my routine since then as I’ve been learning, especially around applying and using essential oils. Loved watching this video and thanks again for further educating me on skincare 🙏🏻

They have been sold to P&G to grow more as a company, after they made the profit. I don't think that, just because they're now owned by them, their ethics and morals will change. However, imo, by buying Native instead of other P&G deodorant brands will only encourage the market to be more ethical and in the process the company as well. The irony of using essential oils in a zero waste routine. The truth is individual behaviors, while important (I am vegetarian - and have been vegan before - and support BDS so I definitely believe in making moral and ethical choices) are nothing without systemic responsible behaviors. Corporations make up the vast majority of waste production and carbon emissions, and they have the money and power to make responsible choices that would have a far greater impact than what individual choices can do. So like, yeah it's great to make less waste but if you're buying from brands that produce a ton of waste (and essential oils absolutely do) then... idk it just seems counter productive.

It took some experimenting, but I started trying out different toners I had on hand to help with different problems, under my armpits for example. The one that ended up helping the most with both under arm irritation AND smell was a ferment-heavy toner! It was mind blowing, the difference it made, but watching this sort of put it into perspective. Awesome info!

I use RiseWell toothpaste, it has Stevia, which I am also iffy about.

Thats weird... I’ve used lavender essential oil blended with grapeseed and got amazing results on my skin... I’ve heard that lavender is very mild and not harmful... so now I’m confused
@caitieeeee4 жыл бұрын
Lots of people like essential oils and when used properly (like you do with a carrier oil), they aren't really harmful. However, people can have sensitivities to anything, and essential oils (including lavender) can trigger asthma, ezcema, etc. If you have good results, awesome! But essential oils by nature are not mild because they are made of such an intense concentration of plant essences.

Actually, I used lavender oil when I had bad skin and it really really helped my breakouts, while on the meantime tea tree oil ALWAYS caused me to break out.
@-MaryPoppins-4 жыл бұрын
Tea tree is very, VERY harsh on the skin hun. If you ever use it I would keep tea tree oil solely as a spot treatment. Make sure the concentration is correct as well. Straight tea tree oil is so harsh 😩

Omg, I'm learning so much from you, way more than I learnt at cosmetology school in 6 months, and I've only seen two videos! I just discovered your channel a few minutes ago, You are truly inspirational! It really shows that you love what you do ❤🙌

I love how educational your videos are. Could you make a video on best ingredients for scarring? I know some scarring needs more invasive procedures, but what ingredients could help reduce or get rid of light, light-medium scarring? Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in your videos 💕

I have to say, tea tree oil il great for boils... Just put some on a q-tip and then very locally on the boil. It helps make it disappear very fast. However, it's not to be put on healthy skin or open wounds...

Tea tree oil STINGS if it isn’t diluted correctly. I had a bad reaction to it when I tried using it for acne

How do you dilute it correctly?

Lindsey W water, but if you have dry skin you shouldn’t use tea tree oil regardless of pimples, once I stopped using it my skin got better

It’s crazy how differently each person reacts to certain things. I’ve put tea tree oil directly on my skin undiluted and I’ve never had a reaction to it. Doesn’t burn or sting, only a slight cooling sensation to irritated/itchy areas.

If any of y'all are looking for zero/low waste skincare that's still formulated by cosmetic chemists (as opposed to DIYs) check out Ethique (skincare that comes in solid bars packaged in compostable boxes) and Meow Meow Tweet (comes in glass packaging, the bulk sizes can be sent back and refilled an infinite number of times). Also, anything packaged in paper/glass/metal is going to be more environmentally friendly than plastic, one brand I love that packages in glass (but with a plastic lid) is Eminence because they also ensure that the rest of their production line has minimal waste and they're such great quality!

I had an all natural moment last summer & I am thankful that it was a very short-lived phase. I was putting coconut oil, olive oil & rose oil on my face...... Yeh it didn't last very long. Ruined my skin. I'm now a hardcore retinol & other actives girl 👌 Much smarter phase that will last ♥️

All cool and very knowledgeable! Just from experience though - coconut oil really does do it for me as a deodorant. It doesn’t remove the sweating!! But then I don’t really necessarily want it to - it really decreases the odour for me tho - it has mild antibacterial properties maybe that is why. It also doesn’t make my pits greasy! But I don’t use a lot. Just saying, this can be a good thing! Its been over 6 years since I’ve been off regular deo and I still have all my friends 😂 Not for everyone but certainly works for some maybe generally less sweaty individuals. Thanks for your reviews chick, I’m enjoying a lottttttt 😃

I'm new to the channel, and I am loving it so much! You're so knowledgeable and passionate, it's delightful! I feel like it's a breath of fresh air to hear a KZbinr speak honestly about the dark, consumeristic, and often unethical side of the skincare and beauty industries while providing examples of more ethical options. I just want to share (and you may well already know this since it is your name), but the name Cassandra originates from a Greek priestess who was cursed to speak true prophecies, but no one would believe them. It's sad, but I feel that everyone watching your channel can see for themselves that you definitely know what you're talking about. Thank you for speaking the truth and bestowing your wisdom on us!! You're a treasure 🥺

Actually lavender is amazing for skin. However, dilution is essential. (Like my pun?) I personally would recommend a 1% or less dilution for a non-professional. Additionally there are different types of lavender. Not all of them are the same as far as safety and use go. - A nearly finished Aromatherapist certification student 💕❤️

Beeb Thank you for pointing that out. Years ago I worked for The Body Shop and we had a small range of essential oils which were ready diluted and safe to use straightaway. So many people don’t understand that the oils need to be diluted and used with care ,in moderation. It scares me when I see people splashing them around like water. I hope your certification course is going well.xx😘

I’m not shocked. We’ve been using it in products for decades.

It has NOT been proven that Aluminum isn’t bad. But we now know that the amount absorbed through cosmetics is negligible compared to that absorbed through food and other things.

So happy to live in Poland with so many beautiful local companies producing sustainable products in glass and having access to good quality hialuronic acid, oils, floral waters - very cheap comparing to west Europe and USA. Here, we also distinguish oils and essential oils. I love raspberry seed oil or plum seed oil on my face, but I wouldn't put any essential oil on it. There is a difference :)

Honestly I switched from antiperspirant to aluminum free deodorant and I sweat less now! Took like a month for my pits to get used to it but it's the middle of summer and I don't sweat nearly as much as I used to. I 100% stand by it!! I used to sweat so bad my pits would literally drip while I was just sitting at a desk/in my home. It was so embarrassing. I tried literally everything but when I decided to "detox" it did so much more than the expensive creams/antiperspirants i used to try/use!
