As a veteran of the Estonian Defense Forces, I am glad to see the ongoing necessary military training of the younger generations. However, PM Kaja Kallas, @07:00 incorrectly states that in 1938 that the Czechs had no weapons. When the factual truth is that the Czechoslovakian Army in 1938 was very well armed, the Czechs had lots of excellent weaponry. The problem with the Czechs was that the Czechoslovakian president Benz was weak, shortsighted, and naïve. Similarly, the presidents of Estonia and Latvia (Pats and Ulmanis) who were dictators were also naïve ,shortsighted and weak. Only Lithuania's president, Antony Smetona, was the only Baltic president who wanted to have official armed resistance to the Soviet Russians. However, the Lithuanian Parliament arbitrarily interfered and overruled him. It was a big mistake, a foolish political decision on the part of the Czech government not to fight the Nazi invaiders in 1938. As well as for the Estonians, Latvians, and Lithuanians in 1939/1940 to not to fight the Soviet Russians. Never Again!
@jack.j5404Ай бұрын
The Münich conference is quite an interesting topic. I firmly believe Nazi Germany could have been stopped if Britain and France backed the Czechs. As Hermann Goering himself stated it was a gamble which they could win by bluffing and it worked unfortunately. Czechs were massive arms producers in the interwar period as well and those same arms invaded France in 1940. I still saddly believe Päts really had no choice, he took the shameful option (it's like having to choose if you want to eat a bears turds of a rabits pebbles). Without a more solid Baltic union that co-operated more heavily and organized a unified army I don't think we could have survived a war like Finland managed. It feels that we are doing the same mistakes now with not trying to form a pseudo federal army between us three Baltic brothers. At a minimum we should all sign on to making only unified military purchases because we operate rather different equipment.

@eln53437 ай бұрын
@@irspider Hello, troll. This response is not for you but for other people reading this thread. Continuation War began 25.6.1941 when USSR invaded Finland by air raids and cut diplomatic ties with Finland. By that point Finland had received security guarantees from Germany but importantly had made no promises to invade USSR unless invaded first. Once invaded, Finland received help from Germany in the form of troops, weapons and financial support. The alliance was quite one-sided since Finland didn't help Germany with it's campaign against Western allies or it's genocidal ambitions. Finland was the only axis ally which didn't participate in the holocaust. As for vivilian casualties, Finland was the ONLY country in WW2 which didn't bomb civilian targets despite having the capability. The only one. USSR on the other hand conducted devastating air raids on Helsinki while Russian partisans murdered defenceless civilians in cold blood in sneak attacks and USSR pulled a genocide of Izhorian Finns and Karelians. Finland pulled out of the war when it was possible - when USSR no longer demanded unconditional surrender after Finland halted the Russian advance in heroic battles against numerically far superior forces such as battles of Tali-Ihantala and Vuosalmi. That was before Germany's ultimate defeat.

I live close to Estonia on the russian side of the border. Up untill 2022 we've had excellent relationships with estonian neighbours. Estonians visited Russia to buy cheaper groceries and other stuff. Russians visited Estonia a lot as well. I really hope we can go back to normal as soon as possible. I'm almost 100 % sure that Russia would not make a first move against Estonia. What I'm worried about - if Estonia starts sending its regular troops to Ukraine, that could lead to a major escalation. I hope that common sense prevails.

Although Germany had lost ww1, they had temporarily won ww1 against Imperial Russia few months earlier in the eastern front. Just months before armistice day. That's when they tried to force Imperial Russia to create maps of the three Baltic states. The Romanov dynasty of Saint Petersburg wouldn't draw maps carving out the Baltic states, as the suburbs outside of the three capital cities were predominantly Russian speaking in many places of the maps to be carved out. to come to power, the map of Imperial Russia was altered by Lenin. Before that, these three nations were capital city nations with small ethnic populations in capital cities and around their capital cities. Except Lithuania. Lithuanians had Lithuanian people everywhere in the map of Lithuania carved out by Lenin on behalf of the Kaiser's men. . Hunter Biden is likely ready to create a new member country of Catalonia to be carved out of Spain with Barcelona as it's capital. Hunter Biden is probably a part time lobbyist of sitting Presidents of the US. Hunter will probably be ready to act as a paid lobbyist to give birth to a new future NATO member country of Catalonia carved out of the map of Spain. Probably. Not sure. Lenin drew maps of the three Baltic states with access to the sea. In the history of the world, over the centuries, certain ethnic groups grow smaller or bigger, and ethnic groups wither away, over the centuries. Like for instance, the places previously lived in by the Chaktaw Chikaso tribes and the Massachusetts tribes and the Arkansas tribes of the western hemisphere had disappeared from the face of the earth. The places they previously inhabited disappeared over time. Such places of the western hemisphere disappeared from the face of the western hemisphere. At the right time, Kaisers Germany forced Imperial Russia to make maps of the three Baltic states with access to the sea, not just the capital cities. Lenin used the power of the pen in creating maps of the Baltic states well beyond their capital cities. Places outside of the capital cities of the Baltic states: Before ww1: These were Russian speaking lands for 500 years. Places outside the capital cities were predominantly Russian speaking lands in the Baltic states. Only problem was, there were ethnic Russians in excess numbers in the Baltic states away from their capital cities for 500 years, some from before the administrations of the Romanov dynasty. Only President George W Bush Junior could set this problem right by deporting some ethnic Russians who lived there in the Baltic states for 500 years.
