26 years ago 💔 Mariella arrived first, rescuing 40 people from the open sea (Estonia has already sunk by then) Horrible they didn't bring home the lost souls, Sweden had military equipment transported on this ship and didn't want this to be revealed so the government then decided Estonia should remain on the bottom of the sea (depth only 75m) and they also suggested it should be covered in CEMENT. 😱

Was very quiet breakfast that morning, like stockholm was also allmost like ghost town that morning. I am not sailor, I am trucker but made about 1400 trips with ferries. Two times have beeing in ferry what almost falled on side, one was 1 degree from that point that it comes up again, second 2 degrees. Two times on ship where was fire on machine room, with smoke up etc. and every 1 in 1000 ships are sinking, so don't come same ferry with me.

About 100 people picked up helicopters at 9 a.m. that they had been circling already in the morning for a long time, they spent in saving baubles, a third froze.. 90% of people drowned 30 minutes after a malfunction in a storm, but people had a strong roll 10 minutes before drowning there was no chance, they just did not have time to do something.. Carl Eric Reintamm did arrive the promenade deck 1 till 2 minutes after the loud 2 or 3 bangs that happened between ca. kl. 01.02 or 01.05. According to JAIC the bow visor fell of the ship around kl. 01.16. So the 2-3 big bangs, water on deck 1, and the following starboard listing did happen ca. 10-15 minutes before the separation of the bow visor! That is pretty strange, because that means that the sekvens of happenings did indeed start approximum 12-15 minutes before the car ramp could have let all the water inn on the car deck. That brings the questions on why the water came in on deck 1, and why the ship listed before the ramp fell down and the visor separated from the ship !? Reintamm did see something in the water that left the ship backwards to the left app. 10 minutes before the separation of the bow visor. Assuming that Reintamm looked backwards to the left from starboard promenade deck point of view, the thing in the water most likely could have hit the starboard side of the ship before the separation of the visor, and the opening of the ramp. If Reintamm speaks truth it clearly proves without any shadow of a doubt that the specific time of the the 2-3 loud bangs, the inlet of the water on deck 1, followed by the with 30 degrees starboard listing a few minutes later, that this sekvens of events clearly happened before the separation of the visor and the downfall of the ramp........

@the_alex_ellis_channel69238 жыл бұрын
Complete Cock-up the Estonia was. Firstly, it was never designed to sail in seas like the Baltic. Secondly, its sister ship was dry-docked at the time, having repairs to the bow visor after the exact same thing almost happened to it.

+The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel Sorry? Firstly, the Estonia was a Baltic ferry, so I don't know what you're on about there, mate...
@the_alex_ellis_channel69238 жыл бұрын
Shipster1912 It was designed for coastal waters, not open regions like the Baltic sea. While the ship was able to sail in the Baltic, the bow visor wasn't designed to withstand it. You must remember that it had been with other operators before going to Estline, and did not always sail in the Baltic.
@Shipster19128 жыл бұрын
+The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel I know it did, but it clearly was designed for the Baltic, especially if its main route was Tallinn to Stockholm. That route takes her to the heart of the Baltic.
@Bongo445518 жыл бұрын
+Shipster1912 It was designed for the Stockholm-Turku route, which is sailed in 80% archipelago. She wasnt made for travelling non-stop on open waters, one of many causes behind the disaster.
@MarineAqua458 жыл бұрын
Personally I think that the ship itself was carrying some type of soviet military cargo in a truck or a car, which was parked in the car deck & someone ( probably the Russian FSB) didn't want that ship making it to Stockholm. Also why is it that there were members of Swedish Special branch police on-board this ship? Who was the unidentified man on the Bridge in the reddy-brown suit, whose decomposed body was found by Dave Mawston, when he dived the wreck? Why was another diver ( a separate diver in scuba gear) in the car deck poking around & when Rockwater divers discovered him, he swam away trying to hide from the spotlights shone on him? Why was Greg Bemis's ship stopped by the Swedish Navy, near the wreck-site & had his vessel boarded? Why did Sweden want to cover this wreck in concrete, when other ferry wrecks elsewhere, have been left uncovered, even though human remains are on-board? Why did Britain decide to bar its citizens from diving the wreck in a signed treaty?

@Itapirkanmaa26 жыл бұрын
Too bad the concept of the visor and the ramp are merrily confused in the video, apparently due to the ship simulation software used. The ramp was behind the visor, not all alone foremost in the bow as in the simulation. The visor was not meant to be watertight, the ramp was. The visor is the foremost shaping and shielding part of the bow that could and needed to be lifted hydraulically to gain access to the ramp. In the Estonia, however, the ramp was partly housed in the visor, which meant the once the visor was lost, it also forced the ramp open, and the car deck was flooded in minutes.

@@pooltuunitud I had to do the conversion from metric, 10 cm would be about 4 inches, being that was spread across the entire deck with the Sea state as it was would be a huge problem for stability. Estonia sank in waters that are shallower than Estonia's length. Estonia last minute She was presumed to have capsized with the stern in the water. But still slightly tilted to starboard, leaving only the bulbous bow and bow door. The ship sank and hit the bottom of the Baltic Sea in a storm, the cause of Estonia's wreck remains a mystery, and there are many theories as one of the causes of Estonia's wreck, but those theories are not. always have doubts

The simulation is wrong. The water tight ramp behind the bow visor were intact and closed. It was closed before, during and after the accident and it is still closed today.

no, the waves also loosened the ramp, causing it to fall. it was held up by the visor until it fell, opening the ramp and letting water freely enter.
@Odqvist895 жыл бұрын
@@faekapira The ramp was closed during the whole event and even after the wreck had come to rest at the bottom. There is evidence enough for this not to be an issue of debate.

@@Odqvist89 when the ship capsized, the ramp could've fallen to its original position.

@@faekapira Yes, but it did not, because the winches were still intact, all wire on them still, taught and snug. The ramp could have come loose and then close again, but no force of nature would have wind up the winches. It would look like spagetti instead. And there is also anecdotal as well as photographic evidence of passengers climbing down the beams at the back of the closed ramp when escaping the capsising ship. Thus, the ramp never opened. Not at surface, nor during the sinking and nor at the bottom. The watertight seal for the ramp, a rubber gasket, was severly damaged and abused by the crew, thus leaking a significant amount of water aboard. This can be seen on security tapes and was told by a surviving crew member as well. It is, however, not enough flow of water or accumulated volume to nearly support this simulation.
