This guy wanted to sell mushrooms from the back of his van. To do that, you need a permit. The market officials tried to get him to buy one, but he refused and behaved aggressively towards them, so they called the police. The police told him the same thing; buy the permit or leave. He refused again, aggressively, and then things got nasty. A policeman lost a tooth and needed some stitches. The man was sentenced to 10 month suspended, 1400€ damages to the policeman + medical bills.

If Finnish police wants to interrupt in something, there usually is a good reason for it. If you play along and have done nothing seriously stupid, you should be just fine. And no, I don't think this was about the guy being Estonian - just that he was acting aggressively.

Part of a bigger trend of Estonians especially working in Finland etc getting themselves into all kinds of crazy stuff there. We call(ed) them "Kalevipojad", Kalevipoeg being the main character of out national epic of the same name, who amongst other things also went to Finland to get a sword from the famous Finnish smith Ilmarine (Estonian variant of the Finnish Ilmarinen from "Kalevala") and ended up murdering the smith's son with said sword during a drunken argument (a brief overview, the story is more elaborate and important for later developments). To be clear, the term "Kalevipojad" is applied to Estonians (mostly men) working in Finland in general, some of them have just gained a reputation...

He could have given up at any time. - No bystanders were injured in the incident. - The man was taken into custody within minutes and was not injured (with the exception of the bruises caused by the batons). - Even if the man got his lawyer, the correct place to settle things out is not the market place, but the police station or the court house. The policemen here did the absolutely right thing. Violent people who refuse to abide by the law should be taken into custody like this. And 4 against 1 is completely justified when you're trying to take the opponent down safely and avoid injury, both to yourself and to the target. @@Talvekuningas to be more precise, the general understanding is that Finns and Estonians both start speaking the other's langage when drunk.

People who cant understand whats happening : Finnish marketing guys buy shrooms from estonians for 3,5-4€ per kilo and then they sell them in Finland for almost 25€ kilo. This guy was just selling his own shrooms(He mainly lives in Estonia and he picked those himself) for a fair price( around 10€ kilo, because why go to Finland if you dont sell for more tho its still 15€ cheaper than usually there). Sellers complained about him selling those for so low price and the estonian man got mad because people are complaining about him doing a fair deal.

And he didnt have a license to sell at Finnish market. He also was trained in an estonian police school. 1 police officer ended up with a bleeding nose :D

I think you're using shrooms in the wrong context but your comment is pretty hilarious that way

Well they may be but Finland isn't part of Scandinavia

You are unable to understand my point, its not the matter of big crime like killing, its just a matter of administration problem, what i meant, that the estonian guy may be unaware the place reservation etc, police should not overreact, that things can be solved by discussion in a peacefull and honorable manner

Yes you will get a lawyer once you are arrested, but he was only being detained. And lawyers wont go to the field if it's not absolutely necessary. Oh and he did get his lawyer in the end, all tough in a police cell

Is there some sort of explanation..what jappened..the reason the guy went mad....what didi the estonian say...what happened....?
@Ama-hi5kn6 ай бұрын
Well. From what I can get is that the Estonian guy was trying to sell his mushrooms in the market without a permit to do so. Correct me if I am wrong. The commentary is in Estonian and it's not so easy to understand.

Jep. Ja koska Suomen poliisi yrittää saada kohteet alas mahdollisimman pienin vahingoin tälläisiin tapauksiin kutsutaan niitä apuvoimia. Kyllä ne poliisit saisi tuollaisenkin körmyn alas väkivaltaisesti pieksemällä, mutta onneksi meidän poliisit on suurimmalta osalta erittäin asiallisia.
