It’s the USA government that decides whether they accept the territories as states. In Puerto Rico there have been several referendums but it’s basically symbolic. Since the only nationality in Puerto Rico is USA and people can move freely to the mainland USA, now more puertorriqueños live in the mainland than on the island. And even given this I don’t think statehood would be granted.

Chaudhary, next time you fix one of those great big meals for the community, save your oil. Cut the amount of oil down to an amount to make a paste with, using flour. Fry that paste for a bit , till it's browned, with some onions and garlic, or whatever veggies. ...mushrooms are good. Then add spices and water and cook till it thickens. It will also thicken as it cools. There's your gravy. 😁👍
@ChristaFree
@ChristaFree Жыл бұрын
Equal parts fat and flour and don't stop stirring or it'll burn. Once it gets the color you want add your liquid a little at a time and bring to a boil. It will show it's thickness once it's boiledso you can add more liquid if you need to. . Fail proof way to make roux.

So it's more like an asian dish, than "american food". Once again, these kind of channels, are failing their participants, by not informing them correctly. If the place is under american rule, protection, or whatever, shouldn't matter when it comes to the food, then it should be described according to the geographical location in the world, in this case Asia. Because its flavor would likely be more like food of that region, and not american food, generally speaking. And like that comedian said, what is american food, anyway? They're always in other people's (cultures') restaurants. Even the most american food item itself, the hamburger, isn't really american. Even the so-called "Hawaii Pizza" (Pineapple pizza, usually with ham or pepperoni) isn't even from Hawaii, Italy or America. But was in fact invented by a canadian. But I think in this case, it's not about americans wanting to label everything as theirs, but rather a case of misrepresentation. And just because a place is under US jurisdiction, doesn't mean that it's fair to lump in their food with american cuisine, especially when that place is in southeast Asia. It would be the equivalent to saying sauerkraut is american, just because it's available to buy in the US. Oh, and we have sauerkraut in my country too, and it's been around for all of my existance, and I'm pushing 50. But that doesn't make me a german though, and sauerkraut is a german food, but why it's also a fairly big (known) thing in my country, is a question probably better answered by someone else other than me.
