Good video, thanks for the tests. The term toughness actually has a very specific scientific meaning. It's the area under the stress-strain curve. Thats why your bending test was the only one decently different...it was the only test that actually measured toughness to some degree. Toughness becomes really important when you're designing a structure that's able to absorb energy without catastrophic failure. Ultimate and yield strength are overrated material properties :)
@madthough2298 Жыл бұрын
It depends on what material you are trying to predict failure in. If the material is ductile you should be concerned with yeild strength, and uts if the material is brittle. That's why grades of structural steel are commonly labeled based on their yeild strength, because steel is a ductile material

I was interested in the eSun hard tough and Siraya blu, and apparently the eSun resins are way more resilient. Did you found any other resin to be stronger than the eSun?

Not yet, but Creality already contacted me too, they will send some resin for testing.. but probably after new year.

Was just wondering if the results scale evenly? i.e. if you double the thickness does it double the strength or is it that as soon a it gives in one area the whole thing fails (like a micro fracture). This question is for resin only as I believe it does scale fairly evenly using FDM. Great video. Keep it lit.

Good thinking. I should test that

Are all you esun resin doesn't have expiration label on the packaging ? I bought couple of esun, i only see " EXP : 12 months" printed on the bottle, but no production or expiration dates. How about you ?

It has manufacturing date.

I wonder if you add a small amount Monocure Flex 100 or some other Flexible Resin to ABS tough Resin Will it still keep strength + Ridgity + Toughness but also have some flexiblity for if you wanted to make a part like a moving gear , since it has slight bit of flex in it one wrong move in the gear wont make it shatter crazily.

I had an experiment with mixing resins, added Tenacious to Blu kzbin.info/www/bejne/faLFkGB_frOSd68 Maybe later I will be back to these type of testing..

Thanks! So scientific and informative! I wonder how useful a durometer (type D) would be for similar tests (I'm trying to achieve a certain flexibility).
@MyTechFun3 жыл бұрын
I am preparing some DIY hardness measuring system, but maybe I will invest in durometer (or maybe ask the Banggood if they want to send one for a review). Yes, measuring hardness would be interesting information too.

@@MyTechFun I'm still exploring myself and waiting to get my hands dirty as things arrive. From what I've seen in other youtube videos the shore D scale would be more suitable for hard plastics while shore A might be more suitable for rubber-like or semi-flexible ones. Images of the shore scales showing different example objects are also really helpful.

I also watched your video in siraya blu, if I am reading the results correctly, even esun standard resin significantly beats siraya on every test. Is that correct?

Yes. Results are compatible, I left the conclusions to viewers. Correct

@@MyTechFun Thanks for the reply. I am new to resin printing but am very surprised at this. Anecdotal evidence says that siraya blu is very tough and standard resins are not. I guess thats the difference between anecdotal evidence and scientific evidence. Unless standard resins are significantly tougher than most other brand standard resin. Interesting

Szia! Milyen hőmérsékletet bír egyébként a gyanta ?

Did you post process the tough as esun specifies? Did the tough get baked? I print with both and the tough is noticeably tougher than the standard, much less likely to shatter and takes more strain mechanically before breaking at least in my experience my functional prints.

Hi, I have a question which I hope you can answer, I'm new to Resin printing and I wanna print accessories for 1/12 scale action figures, so they will be very tiny and some parts will be a thin, would you suggest the standard Esun resin for them to stay durable while using them on figures? I live in India and I don't really have any options for resin and I'm kinda sceptical about importing Resin. Please let me know

The Jamg He Art Engineering resin claims to have an impact resistance of 460J/M and the Jamg He High Tenacity Resin claims to have an impact strength of 736J/M !? 😶🤨 For reference, can aluminium, copper and or brass be compared to your test in the videos so the viewers or I can compare it to an item that the viewer or I may have at home to relate easily to🤷♂.
