So sorry for the late response! I followed many others' videos (A Nickels Worth, Beau Tate, etc.) when replacing my ribbons. I may make my own video sometime soon showing how I do it, as Ive since made some tweaks on my ribbon changing technique.

Leather has oils in it and when you crease the leather it causes the oils to squeeze out from the bend point. You could try buying some leather conditioner like Bick 4 as an affordable option to even out the oils.

Conditioning the leather also keeps it healthy which will prevent cracking from dryness and ensure your bible cover lasts decades.
