These kinds of technology are impressive, but what actually worked is simple yet effective. A boring bigger battery (Why add RGB to a handheld??), smaller resolution (Who the f needs 2K in handheld, it's just ended as a docked device), stronger GPU and seamless experience is all what market needs. It's looks wow, everyone watched it, but majority won't even buy it (especially it will have that "tax" for being unique).

The tech isn't quite there yet. We powerful & efficient APUs that can be cooled in something the size of a Razer Edge but w/ a 7.5-8 inch screen. Maybe in 3-4 yrs we can GTX 1070 power in that size 🤔

@@XMansive ROG Ally X already have 80WHrs that weight less than 700gram. It's possible with current technology so it's just about priority. For GPU (or APU) can only wait for new architecture and generation. Current APU actually already strong enough if they just use 800p resolution.

I think to make it really appealing they need to get WiiU in there too at an affordable price point. It is still pretty easy to get a 3DS or 2DS and mod them.

The first one looks most appealing but the battery is too small, especially for that screen size. The second one I like how they have the controls options for gaming but not really a fan of having to deal with removing a keyboard to use the controls. The third one seems neat in theory but looking at it more closely, it just seems senselessly gimmicky. Flipping the controls around in that way would now have a compromising control layout with no standard and more useful D-pad. Instead they should have the controls fixed and just made it a clamshell design.

I don't understand the point of using the HX370 chips when there is a Strix Halo + Kracken Point + Z2 Extreme lineup coming in a few months. It's not like the HX chipsets will have a massive price gap between them and the new ones, especially the Z2 Extreme, Kraken Point, and low-power Strix Halo variants.

All of these crazy ass devices are way too expensive for the average person to throw down what they want for just some handheld computer. I applaud the innovation, but this stuff is extremely niche.... and obviously was just thrown out there to show off. Not make money.

The dual screen is extremely exciting. We need a ds/3ds device. Aya Neo made a dual screen but it was like 2000 dollars. When i heard you say snapdragon I was so hyped. Itll definitely be more expensive than most. Id assume a bit above the odin 2 but thats still affordable to have a specialised device. Itd be so cool to have a youtube guide open on the bottom and game at the top or the ds games using both screens.

A perfect handheld would be something 8.8 / 10-11 inch, full sized keyboard in laptop clamshell that can do 180 degree flip to the back, detachable controllers on the side that fits the flipped keyboard and screen chassis, a bigger battery (of course), and at least 4g lte modem so no more wifi tethering required. TBH i feel like a GPD pocket 4 with the sim module and hand-carried controller would be enough for all of above lol.

I have OneXplayer X1 AMD 8840u edition w/ accessory pack I love it and can't recommended enough. Unless you need something more portable or lighter weight. But it I find it very easy to just prop it up on my lap if need be. Realistically I play no more than like an hour and a half at any given time so it works out perfect.

The OneXPlayer G1…seems like they were in my brain because THIS IS 85% of HOW WOULD DESIGN MY PC HANDHELD. All Its missing is the second screen like a 2ds/3ds XL and a mechanism to push down or bring up the secondary screen and controllers when placing and removing the keyboard. Forget that OneXPlayer Sugar(even though that’s cool as well), they would really invest more into the G1

I would like to buy a portable Onexplayer over Onexplayer with a huge screen because it looks weird to have a big screen, but I think it would work. Onexplayer is one of my favourite PC handheld maker since 2021! Is it still worth it and are small poryable laptops any good for gaming? I am so chuffed about the controller on the X1. Wish they would have refreshed it for the HX 370 model. That is the only thing that has been keeping me from getting it so far, as it hits most of my boxes otherwise. If they redesigned the controller and added either VRR or OLED, I would be DESPERATE to give them my money!

I bought the original OneXplayer and still use it. Never bought another handheld as I love it so much. That said I've been looking forward to a new GPD XD type device. That Onexsugar just looks like a mess. Both screens facing outwards for maximum scratches, constantly moving control parts that will wear and tear. Look up the 'Logitech Keys to go 2. Take that size device, and add android screen on top with the new battery tech that is found in the RealMe Neo 7 (mid tier phone with 7000mah). That's it. You don't have to reinvent the wheel and try out squares or triangles.

Android 16 will be able to easily boot a full Linux OS in the same way windows WSL boots linux ,with direct GPU access , which is going to make new android devices with snapdragons and elite X type ARM new models start to become goto handheld devices for gaming on steam and get more phone vendors onboard with handheld gaming ,especially now since the pattern for slide mobile game controller that I think sony had for phones is coming to an end. I think next year will be mediocre for handheld new releases but the year after its going to explode with options for every price range.

I just want a GAMING handheld ffs why do they want so much to put features no one asked for. I want the device to be GREAT at gaming and nothing else, all in gaming. Not having a bunch of features that burden each other That would be shit to work on this laptop, and the keyboard is hindering the gaming experience, even if it's detachable it adds costs and is a burden overall.

Not supporting VRR on any of their screens is such a downer. Handhelds need VRR supported screens. They have all this horsepower for the cpu/gpu and the screens not to make it smooth experience.

I really don't get the foldable one. Why not just make it a good flip handheld with a small keyboard? The detachable keyboard is a terrible idea. It basically turns it into a small device that doesn't do anything particularly well. Gaming looks uncomfortable, and the laptop looks too small. Hard pass.
