This looks brilliant. I didn't learn about these until several months ago when they were shown on LTT, where they looked very impressive. I wasn't aware of what people were working on or what was possible in regards to making light gun games work using modern TVs. I'm glad to see this come about. I'll have to look into getting one or two of these some time down the road. Light gun games aren't my favorite, but they're good, simple fun and there are definitely some that I would very much like the play again.

From what I understand, this requires quite a bit of video processing ? I don't think the light gun itself does it but it just sends the data to the CPU to process.

Mine are coming in tomorrow, I am so excited. I ordered a red one and a black one both with recoil. I am binge watching reviews and tutorials in anticipation of it's arrival. Ordered them in December of 2021 and it is coming in the 9th of April. So I been waiting awhile for these. I got all my favorite light gun games from my childhood ready and gonna have lots of fun once I get these set up.

Not all machines had pedals, in some machines to take cover you had to aim outside the screen, which was generally used to reload in these kind of games.

Nice to see more lightgun solutions but I really wish there was a no border solution. Something around the screen not effecting the screen, covering things up. Its why I liked the Wiimotes for lightgun games the IR bar is all thats needed. Less accurate but I'd prefer that over a border in software. I'll be waiting for an improved version.

I think I agree with you here. Plus I really wish their motorized version that will supposedly come later is: 1. extremely robust like commercial arcade-grade and 2. I wish they would make the motorized version modular so it could be a handgun, shotgun, or uzi (ie Operation Wolf / Thunderbolt-style) and 3. Have substantial recoil and sound to immerse you better into the games. I was always wanting for a light gun to appear in the home market like this & year after year, decade after decade, I basically gave up hope due to lack of innovation or will to make one from any substantial player in the market.

How is accuracy without an on screen reticle? True light gun games never had them as the aim was good enough to be done for real with the gun itself. Would be very interested in seeing the M2 emulator for House of the Dead 1 and virtua cop 1 and 2. When I was trying to use Wii remote that gave me trouble as the emulator is quite janky.

@@ens0246 the drag seems most pronounced in the Alien game which might be the game itself as it wasn't a true lightgun. Could also be emulator/screen latency and not the device itself.

@@DenkyManner Correct the drag is that game due to the stationary gun. Every video I've seen other than this one is without the crosshair and it appears to be flawless. Linustechtips has a video of duck hunt.

It works really well from what I see. It uses the white border on the edge of the screen, which can be thinned, but the larger border is probably more accurate/responsive. As for if the physical crosshairs are accurate I haven't seen talked about, I had to adjust the aim in some of the arcade style guns. Can't wait to receive them.

So the reference point built into the screen will always be superior to an external IR reference point. Anything that uses an IR bar is essentially an air Mouse and can easily lose accuracy.

I don't see how cutting off the screen is superior. Actually watch the video. An IR reference point is actually the superior reference point because you can't see it and it behaves nothing like an air mouse, which uses gyroscopic sensors to guestimate position. The math is the important thing in a modern gun as they all have to calculate position based upon reference points. The math is great on this one, but again, it cuts off the screen. A +$200 gun that cuts off the screen.

Dude lightguns on modern TVs. A Dream come true. Nintendo did do a great job with wiimotes even tho they need IR LEDs. Best thing about that jurassic park game is the machine that moves the seats to make it way harder to aim

You can order recoil guns. The recoil clicks when you 'reload' and shoot. There won't be any exact copy of the arcade ones, they might be sued.

What I'd do with the cocking mechanism for hiding is invert it, so you're NOT crouched while the handle is released and hiding behind cover when you engage it.

I only noticed the floaty delay in the Alien game, but that's because it's not a real lightgun game, the gun was mounted on the cabinet and the aim was calculated on it's position like a giant analog stick

Aimtrak guns have been out for years. Same technology. I've had two for ages, but the accuracy can't compare to old school CRT guns. Even when calibrated, the aim tends to go out of whack after a while (much like a Wii controller).
