Hello EtchedActuarial! I wanted to ask if you could do a video explaining more in-depth how one could go about doing what you said in 25:43, which is completing projects and applying what you learn to a real scenario. How would I go about finding businesses to help? Is there a script I could use to ask? What do you mean by "projects"? Thank you for your time! Your video is really informative!

Start from people around you! See how you could improve the process of a club you're in, a volunteer organization, a part-time job or even family/local businesses that you're familiar with. Try to identify some pain points first, and suggest ways you could help. Another key skill to have is the ability to identify these things!

How do you gain experience if you're applying for an entry level job? I have my bachelor's in applied math and I'm studying for the exams, but I'm coming from a different field. I have been a math teacher/tutor, I also managed a restaurant. So I have 10+ years of working experience, just not anything related to the field.

Hey Brea, would I be able to pass the actuarial exam without any calculus/stats classes taken? Given that I'm willing to study new equations and put in many hours to understanding new material, would I be able to apply techniques for exam P and FM?
@EtchedActuarial2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam! You can definitely pass actuarial exams without taking any classes, as long as you're willing to study hard. If you're looking for extra resources and study materials, you're always welcome in the AAC! 😊 etchedactuarial.com/accelerator/

4:10 Since the Actuarial market is already very competitive, is it worth working towards getting the designation as a student in stepping stone degree like the examples you gave from a university that isn't top 100? Since you will be starting the journey comparatively disadvantaged since ActSci students would have a bunch of exemptions when graduating and a stepping stone degree would not necessarily give those
@EtchedActuarial3 жыл бұрын
As you gain more work experience and real-life projects and skills, your degree will actually matter less. Focus on the things that will make you stand out and continue to work on areas that you're not as confident in.

Will A.I. replace people in the actuarial sciences?
@EtchedActuarial2 ай бұрын
This is a question on SO many people's minds right now! I don't think AI is going to completely replace people - but I do think it'll change which tasks people do day-to-day in the actuarial field. Lower level tasks might get delegated to AI, while humans work on the more advanced stuff. But even if AI did take over, I think actuaries would be in a pretty good spot! Here's a video where I explain my thoughts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWxlHuKatmmZ6s

I have browsed about this and I really wonder how can I give exam P Or Fm in India. Is it possible?
@EtchedActuarial2 жыл бұрын
I believe you'd have to take the exams from the IAI (Institute of Actuaries of India) or IFoA (The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) and then get exemptions for the SOA exams later. But I'd recommend checking with your local actuarial society to be sure, since I'm not an expert on that!
