This saved me soooo, much headache tonight on a job that was confusing me because the previous installer wired the unit wrong many years ago and when the time came for the heaters to do their job, everything failed extraordinarily..... But! Thanks to your thorough explanation I was able to diagnose the root cause and proper repair before setting the replacement unit up for future failure. *I know the video is a bit old but I'm still grateful for the narrators time.

Great video, good explanations...!!! Years ago i took a motor control class, the instructor assumed that we already have some knowledge about it, but every body were in blank and was a very difficult class...😂

This is a great video explaining how the contactor works. I have a similar contactor, three phase star configuration. After having a new service installed in the building, the starter question does not operate the compressor as it did when it was hooked up to the original service of the building. I noted that the magnetic coil runs at 208 V. I am under the impression that line one with line to combined using the equation 1.723 makes 208 V to operate this starter coil. All the heaters are working perfectly along with the reset reset button and the push in button to check motor rotation direction. The contactor contact points are in perfect condition. I was wondering if I connect line one and line 2 together I will get the necessary voltage required to fully power up the magnetic coil. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I’m working on a 3 phase nema 1 - 208 starter for 7.5 hp , with-start stop , start is on 2-3 , stop on L -1, There is no wire running from the O/L at the bottom where in the video you had-a neutral wire , where did it come from ? Do i need to run one , if so from where ?

Well you have to complete the circuit for it to work. I am assuming you have a 208V coil. If so, you would go from the O/L contact back to L2 at the top of the starter. If your coil voltage is 120 then you either need to swap out the coil or use a step down control transformer. My setup had a seperate 120V control power source. If you have the original starter enclosure there should be a duagram in it also. Hope that helps.

@@FFSeiler yes it does help , the diagram was on the box door , they said it was removed in the warehouse and they couldn’t find it , the step down transformers were cut off as well , we’re going to try put them back on Monday, thanks for the reply.
