Hi Pete, The problem with those type of flush fit barn doors is that you can't always see if the top door cams have locked in properly, and if they haven't the flex in the body as you go down the road makes them come loose and then the doors open, that's why the previous owner has put that chain on. The hooks your after are called TT Lashing Points like you said, be careful when buying the really cheap ones as they are only rated to 1.5 ton each, if you Goole a company called Nationwide Trailer Parts they have the proper 2.5 ton rated ones and have them in stock at £2-89+VAT each, that's where I got mine from. Those Internal straps hanging from the roof are as about as useful as a chocolate Teapot, I would get rid of them as well, just be careful when securing your loads until you get your TT Lashings fitted, when using straps the DVSA don't like you using the lip of the side of the body to attach them as it's not load rated, you're supposed to attach your straps to the vehicle chassis. The taillift remote you bought is commonly called a Wanderlead mate.

Id have a look into how legal the back doors are pete . DVSA may consider them insecure , say nice bog chain , have a wallet emptier on us .

Lots of those Daf's are setup like it on the Tacho, pain in the backside... It will still go to cross hammers when you stop, but as soon as you turn the ignition off it will jump to bed.
@mathewsmith32942 жыл бұрын
Something else to add, it doesn't do it in reverse if that makes sense... So if you've stopped and turned the ignition off it will jump to bed, if you override it onto hammers for example, and then switch the ignition on nothing will change. It is literally just that jump from hammers to bed when the ignition is switched off. Hope this helps

She looks lovely, bargain price at that mileage. Have you worked out which operator had it before you? Must of been a reasonable size firm if part of a pallet network. AHH the Daf da da ding, da da ding tune. Heard plenty of that watching truck driver vlogs.

Hi Pete I run a couple of 7.5t lorries on the cx would I run into problems with customers if I had the cabs & back doors sign written
@tiffysofcornwall2 жыл бұрын
hi pete in your last video you stated that your lorry does not have a bed in it and would be against the law to sleep across the seats etc how ever its ok for van drivers to do this. wouldent it be a good idear for you to lead a campain with the cx to be able for drivers to have reasonable hotels for the night may be booked through the c x app i think rooms should be no more than £40 per night on a room only basis ie bed and shower only this would make it safer for drivers waking up fresh in the mornings rather than sleeping in freezing cold vans come on pete you could be a driver hero here lead a campain for decent cheap accomadion for our drivers work with the cx speek to them they lisen to you and a buisness plan to great videos as usual

Hi Pete! I like your videos and are currently looking into following the same footsteps, however I'm confused about the haulage, whether you can operate with just the tractor unit itself and pick up loads, or are you expected to have trailers too for say the courier/haulage exchanges So I know to include in my business plan, keep up the videos it's helping plenty watching them 😁
@PetetheCourierDriver2 жыл бұрын
Hi Callum. I don't think you get many jobs for just tractor units alone but I will put the shout out in the Q & a on Sunday in case I am wrong.
@theurbantrucker2 жыл бұрын
Hi Callum, There's very little of traction work on the H/X tbh, if you're looking into getting onto the H/X with a tractor unit you will definitely need a trailer, if your looking only to do traction work your better off contacting the big transport companies directly, there's lots of traction work out there especially at the ports doing container or ferry (ro-ro) trailers. Don't listen to the Facebook warriors who say you can't earn money doing this sort of work, I have and still do sometimes on this type of work. I hope you don't mind me saying but you seem very green to the industry, have you even got your HGV licence yet? If not I wouldn't jump straight into being an owner driver with a truck. My advice to you would be to start on the C/X with a van get some experience and contacts like Pete has done and then work your way up to a truck. But if you are intent on buying a truck my advice is to get a slepper cab euro 6 18 ton curtainsider with a taillift, you'll earn more money with that type of truck than any artic on the H/X. Please please don't run before you can walk, it's so easy to lose everything and I've seen people do this sadly, trucks can be very expensive and a headache to run and operate sometimes, believe me I've been in the industry all my life. I wish you the best of luck, just take baby steps to start with my friend.....
