Breakdown of my Eternal Ascent submission, heavily inspired by the world of Cyberpunk 2077
Time spent ~90 hrs
Modeled in Blender, cloth was made in Marvelous designer, texturing in Substance Painter, simulations in Houdini, post processing in After Effects.

Yea i always have a view from camera open to check how the forms are looking, and to see what parts you can skip modeling because they wont be visible in the final shot

Thank you! I was not quite satisfied with the dynamics, i feel the explosion still has room for improvement, but the time was limited xD

Congrats! I've tried to enter these but my skills are just not there yet. I'm really interested in the rendering process. I would just get to the raw render stage and be done. I don't know how to do the passes or what kind of passes you do to achieve such a great quality image. Would love to figure this part out.

Thanks! The compositing part is really interesting and can bring the quality of your render quite a bit. It is usually done in specified program, like after effects, nuke, davinci There is a lot of tutorials on compositing, if you are a beginner, i would recommend davinci, as it is free to use. Good luck!

@@3dsmileCGYes I use DaVinci for my renders. Just have to figure out how to split the renders up and how to combine them (as well as trying to figure out what goes into a render and why I'm doing a separate render). Congrats again on your entry and looking forward to your other content.

3:32 may I ask why you separated the two and just composited them together?

Sure! I rendered the background separately because i set up the lighting a bit different for the characters, and also the background has huge volumetric atmosphere, so it was faster to render it separately too.
