The end of 14 gets me every time. The clock tower between them, representing that time is the only thing keeping them apart. And the bells ringing after he kneels representing that she was his wife in his heart. That's why Himmel never married or had kids. The ring also is a mirrored lotus that hasn't bloomed, representing unrealized love. Fern's bracelet is blooming, representing realized love. This anime is gorgeous.

it actually makes me so mad, to Himmel, that moment meant everything, to Frieren, it was just another day. Only now after he has died is she realizing that by going off on her own for 40 years she left him behind.

The fact it took her this long for her to realize that Himmel confessed his feelings towards Frieren is tragic, it must be really hard to be part of a race that lives three times longer than humans knowing that you’ll outlive everyone who you held dear to you as friends. I can’t even imagine it…

Hence why Frieren was so distant. She was protecting herself from unnecessary pain which actually turns out to be very valuable as she changes into better person because of that.

I can kinda understand Frieren when you think about it from her perspective. Imagine a new race popped up on earth. Same as us but they only lived 1 month. Would you become friends or emotionally attached with any of them? For my own mental health I don't think I would.

Three times longer? Frieren is more than ten times older than a human can live. That said, elves don't seem to regard lifespan as a barrier to friendship. To them outliving other races is just a fact of life. The sadness comes when they accidentally don't value the time they do have with them.

Yep! Just like in Takagi-san where Nishikata thinks he is losing all the time. Nishikata and Stark are so far ahead on points, nobody would ever catch them in winning the golden hearts of Fern and Takagi.

Yeah for sure. If a girl said that to me I'd never feel more appreciated. She treasures the effort he put into the gift enough that she'll tell him off if he questions what it means to her. I can't even pretend like Fern isn't like most of my exes and I'm not very much so like Stark just with more years under my belt lmao

People in the fandom who ship Fern and Stark (basically 99% of viewers) refer to them as “Stern”, which is even cuter when you take into account the English translations of these German words: Stark = STrong Fern = fAR Stern= STAR You could their “ship” is written in the stars

i love the swampy sound when Sein get out the swamp. The simultaneous sound of the bite and the fist made me laugh xD. Eisens Eyes just O.O xD The only thing between Frieren and Himmel is just time, so sad. Yet the parallels between Fern and Stark so wonderful delighting. There are some difference between the Ring and the Bracelet. The Bracelet shows a open Lotus for a relation that beginn to grow.., but the Ring didn't, ... for a relation that will never grown. The saddest Sentence in the whole Show "Im used to losing things"

You actually cried a lot less than I thought you would at that part. When I see that part, where Himmel silently proposes to Frieren, I always wish she could snap back to that time and accept his love for her while he's still alive and young.

The Clock Tower in the background is all that separates Frieren and Himmel. Himmel was too much of a gentleman to ever force his feelings onto Frieren! He knew this was an impossible love. Even among Elves, an Elvish romance could take a 100 or more years to finally bear fruit. Talk about your star crossed lovers! Himmel never married and apparently had only one love in his life. Tolkien solved that problem, when Arwen (Elf Princess) falls in love with Aragorn (Human King), she gives up her rights to immortality. Frieren may be falling in love with Himmel in the current timeline. Might Frieren follow the same logic as Arwen?

I wish the community would stop "preparing" reactors for episode 14. Just let people watch. It's not "spoiling" per se, but being on guard in preparation for something waters down the wonderful moment of being caught off guard.

Yeah, Frieren let her guard down in the cart... she was thinking about Himmel... that's very telling. And yeah, Himmel waited for her for 50 years and she didn't return.
