Eternity Is Here Now

In this discussion about time and continuity, we explore how it is possible that eternity is here now, why the mind will never be able to grasp the concept of eternity and what is meant by the mystical death. Like the moth dancing dangerously close to the flame this exploration of time brings us to the edge of the limitations of the mind and closer to the experience of eternity.
Rupert explains that the now has two meanings: from the perspective of awareness the now is eternity whereas from the point of view of the mind the now is a moment. What the mind calls continuity is, in fact, eternity or the ever-present. The mind adds its own assumptions to eternity and then stretches it out in time and therefore it speaks of permanence or continuity. There is a hint of truth in the idea of permanence or continuity but those ideas are truth filtered through the limitations of the mind.
In exploring this your mind has taken itself to a limit and it knows that it hasn't quite reached the understanding that it wants to reach. It has an intuition of it but it can't get past the idea of continuity into eternity. To make the transition from continuity to eternity the mind must be divested of its limitations. The mind must cease.
At some stage, the mind gets tired of this dance and says I want to experience eternity or love. And that gives you the courage to let go of the mind.

If there is only consciousness, it must follow that time, space and matter are not physically real but mere appearance in consciousness. Appearance in consciousness is always now. It appears then disappears, then reappears. It is not continuous. It is discrete. The world appears continuous because this happens at a very fast rate like the continuity we see in videos or movies. Imagine a world appearing and disappearing but there is no change at all. Time will be redundant, not needed. The idea of time is needed when there is change in what appears in consciousness.

The best explanation of NOW (not time). It took me a long time to understand. NOW remains constant, and appearances (objects) change. We are not the object. Analogy - The TV screen remains the same, but the pictures/ images change.

Could it be that we are all the same person or being. My dog is me, and I am my dog, but we are in a different time frame within consciousness. We are likely the same being but in a different mathematical position. I also think that we are here as a medium for consciousness to collect information. Consciousness learns using mediums that collect digital information. Once we die, we immediately become a new medium once again until we die again, and we continue like that forever. Our next life experience might be very similar to this one because it uses the information we already collected. I think that my dog, my cat, a polar bear my mom, my neighbor, my brother, etc.. are all the same being, and they are all me, and I am them. I think that the information collected by consciousness, through me, is unique as no one will ever be able to experience what I saw or experience due to my unique mathematical physical position in the universe. So we are all unique in a way. I think consciousness learns from infinite amounts of eyes from infinite amounts of beings in unique awareness positions.

Reminds me of the Dao's statement that "you cannot know it but you can be it", which I frame as the mind conceptually being limited in trying to know the "flame" but it cannot be it, because once it does ...it meets the same fate as the moth...thanks so much Rupert.

No experience is possible without mind. Consciousness cannot experience itself without mind. Thus, in experiencing eternity (Consciousness) the mind loses its form state and assumes its formless state. What I found surprising was an explanation I found on YT. Suppose we are 2-dimensional beings, living on the X&Y axis. We would move through space along the Z-axis, without experiencing it. However this Z-axis exists over its full length all the time, but we are not aware of it, we only know the current position we're in.

@@stemcleeds The mind makes it a journey. However, when the mind becomes aware of it's own limitation this understanding or insight is instantaneous and outside of time. When the mind through awareness sees it's own limitation it becomes silent without any effort. Then the "journey" or thought has come to an end. Then thought can operate when needed all the while being aware of what it can do and what it cannot do. Hope this helps.

The mind is trying so hard to figure it all out. I know someone who has been doing TM, Transcendental Meditation, for over a half century, and did the Gurdjief work for many years, is a Tibetan Buddhist, a Taoist, a teacher of A Course in Miracles, a minister and is now seriously studying the Bhagavad-Gita, owns thousands of books, many of them on Eastern Philosophy, has been in psychotherapy for most of their adult life and is suicidally depressed and has been their entire life. This person has never had any sort of Satori experience or simply deeply relaxed into the moment. This is the price one pays for being so cerebral and wanting to figure it all out with their mind. This can go on literally for decades! A good question to ask would be “Who or what wants to know?” Watch that too! It is all MIND!

If everything is change, then that change must be relative to something still. Zero. Ground. Just like all numbers are ultimately relative to 0. So the death of the body (that never is, but you can still use it so I guess it actually IS here then) also happens in the eternal now? When the body goes I’m still here in a green recliner with the TV on writing this on my phone? Some of us might already be dead then too just not knowing it? This will again sound like a party pooper to those who feel that Rupert has something sincere and genuine to share concerning Reality or Existence Itself. He really doesn't. What is happening here is really nothing more than Consciousness deceiving Itself. Sounds harsh?. Let's together look at what Rupert's model of Reality has been suggesting and see how it amounts to just that. Consciousness deceiving Itself. Some may think they agree with Rupert and his model of Reality. Most likely that is due to misunderstanding what Rupert's model of Reality really is about and what it really suggests. Actually, his model of Reality is nothing new, it's an old model of religious ideology wrapped under different labels. Allow me to make a few points here solely based on everything spoken directly by Rupert himself. If, anyone believes that, life is not already predetermined, then, you don't really believe what Rupert believes . There's a book metaphor Rupert used to use to show what he really believes about Reality and Existence. The metaphor says, all the pages, all the chapters and the stories are already all there, but, a finite mind can only read one page at a time. He no longer uses the metaphor. Not sure if he still believes that or not. That belief could most likely defeat the purpose of his talks. And, Rupert has always claimed that , everything that is ever known, is known by Consciousness and Consciousness alone. Simply because, Consciousness is the only one that can know. But, he then again claims, not only Consciousness knows, but, something called a finite mind also knows and experiences. And what the finite mind knows, Consciousness doesn't know, and what Consciousness knows, finite mind doesn't know. Very strange and Very convenient. Now, he can have the cake and eat it too. This allows Consciousness to deceive Itself, creating further splits in its own Psyche to split praises and blames. Which implies Two separate Realities or Existence. One that can be praised, and one that can be blamed. It's a form of Self deception. Consciousness deceiving Itself. Rupert would claim that All activities of life are activities of Consciousness and Consciousness alone. But, somehow, when it comes to all the sufferings of all life forms, Consciousness has nothing to do with it , all blames go to either finite minds, beliefs in separate self or the cultures. He claims Consciousness couldn't be the one causing all the pains and sufferings, after repeatly claiming that all activities are activities of Consciousness and Consciousness alone. This amounts to nothing more than, extreme madness and insanity. He again does the same thing in this presentation, blaming the finite mind for not understanding Eternity. It's like a man who puts on a costume, goes out, commits gruesome massacres and atrocities, and always ends up blaming the costume but never himself. Not, only this man is mad and insane but, truly sick. He needs to stop deceiving himself and start investigating his own psyche. This insane religious ideology is nothing new. This has been preached to humanity by many fanatical religious mystics and their followers for many, many centuries. The message is God is all great, all good and all loving, therefore, all the pains and sufferings had be brought about by something else other than God, like the devil, the infidels...etc, followed by countless religious wars, atrocities, burning people at stakes, every concept of sin and sinners, judgements, punishments...etc. All because God had to be all good and all loving. Change the word God to Consciousness, now Consciousness is all peace and all happiness, therefore, Consciousness couldn't possibly be the one causing all the pains and sufferings of life, It has to be something else other than Consciousness that can be finger pointed, and blamed, like finite minds , separate self, beliefs in separate self, if not, it has to be the cultures. The man who puts on the costume, has deceived himself for so long in blaming the costume, that he actually came to believe his own lies and deception, thinking it really is the costume that is responsible, but, never himself. The man is truly sick. What the man really needs is a self introspecting investigation into his own psyche. Consciousness is sick. It needs to stop deceiving Itself, and start investigating its own Psyche for all the itches and impulses as to why. The only Doer, Experiencer, Sufferer and Deceiver here is Consciousness and Consciousness alone. Not the devil, Not the unbelievers, Not the finite minds, Not the separate self, Not the ego, Not the beliefs in separate self, Not the cultures . Why does Consciousness always deceive Itself? Most likely that's how Consciousness or life gets to perpetuate Itself. Countless life forms are being eaten alive even at this very moment, some are barely days old, screaming in pain from the top of their lungs to no avail. All performed and directed by none other than Consciousness and Consciousness alone. We can never be too careful when it concerns the Absolute True Nature of ourselves, not just for our own sakes, but also for the sakes of all life forms and beyond.
