When I was in middle school they treated the pledge of allegiance like it was something we HAD to do every morning, and I was young so I didn’t know I had the right to refuse, so I was standing up with everyone else (mouthing it) but I was holding a book that I was reading prior to that. I guess I had looked down at one point and my teacher saw and thought I was reading during the national anthem. She became FURIOUS and called me out in front of everyone for being “disrespectful to our troops and America”. She forced me to recite it in front of everyone by myself to “prove i know it”. She was so “disappointed” she gave me lunch detention where she proceeded to talk shit on me to the other teachers during. They’re saying Ethan followed musks guidelines for a parody account, but Ethan didn’t have parady in the Twitter handle itself. He didn’t understand the assignment. Also, under twitter's regulations prior to elon's takeover, accounts pretending to be someone else would still be banned, so saying comedy had more freedom before, is false. This type of comedy would have been removed, and pretending to be someone else on instagram and facebook will currently result in the same action. "Before elon musk bought it, i would not have been banned" is incorrect. You would have been reported for impersonating someone and been removed. Try it on instagram, and you will have the same outcome. He also said there is a 3 month grace period with the verified check marks, for them to work out the kinks in the process, so if he said you would lose your check-mark for changing your name, i wouldn't guarantee that until the 3 months have subsided. They are likely still working on the back end of the coding. They cant make these updates overnight; especially with 25% of the staff. Lets be honest. If anyone else came up with this idea, Ethan wouldn't mind. He just has his list of people he dislikes, and will go against whatever they propose. For someone like Ethan who has dealt with suspensions, law suits, strikes, etc. so much.. you would think he would be in favour of regulating strikes, rather than making them subjective based on a mods opinion. I have watched every H3 episode for the last couple of years, but the constant instigative immature behaviour followed by playing the victim is cringe. He's a dad, an adult, but acts like he's in high school. I was totally behind bashing tate for his mysogonistic views, and bashing peterson and shapero for their anti LGBTQ+ views, but one view someone has doesn't make up their person, because every person walking this earth is wrong at some point of their life. That doesn't discredit when they have good points or good ideas. The idea should be based on the substance of the theory, and the result from action, specifically associated with that idea and that idea alone. If you dont like the guy, you dont have to.. but that doesn't inherently make all of their ideas, bad ideas. Nothing about Elon buying twitter *so far* has been hurtful to any parties. People like ethan are banking on it, hoping that people get hurt, so they can attack Elon and say "see we were right", but one shouldn't label it dangerous or hurtful until it has proven to be defective. They are injecting negativity into the platform, hoping to spark retaliation. Elon's vision could be revolutionary, he is still working through it and people are currently consulting him from all views. People who are far left may be upset that people who are far right will be getting their voices back; but elon hasn't banned anyone with opposing views from him. He has only banned fraudulent accounts. I promise you, if Ethan posted his opinions about his dislike for Elon or making fun of Elon from his own account with his own name, he would not have been banned. Fraudulence is a different offense. What if someone changes their name to Joe Biden and declares nuclear war on Russia? We all know the news only screen shots the tweet and handle, not the header of the page or the bio. Though Russia would know its fake, many people in the USA, especially the older population that doesn't understand technology will panic and it would cause immediate unrest across the world. Fraudulence is something that can be extremely dangerous, and should be stopped. Ethan made a mistake, and hopefully can understand why this isn't an issue of free speech, but an issue of committing fraud.
