About 10 years ago I did the Heimlich on a customer. He had a heart issue so after the food flew out he fell down grabbing his chest. His wife gave me a nitroglycerin tablet, I shoved it in his mouth, the emts came in and took over. To this day they come in every week and after her second margarita the wife starts her “if it wasn’t for you he would be dead” “we thank God for you every day” comments..still leaves me a 5% tip every single time! 🤷🏻‍♀️

My worst experience working retail was when I worked at Home Depot. I was hired as a tool rental employee handling and cleaning tools like chainsaws, power tools and drain snakes. Of which I had no previous knowledge of how to use or clean and the only formal training I received was a “you’ll learn on the job” a man brought a 100ft drain snake dirty and late af on his return. I was adopted as a baby, and my birth mother kept all of her 6 children. I grew up as an only child and tried to find them my entire life, and when I had turned 19 I got a hold of them- my siblings didn't even know I had existed, and my birth family showed no interest in wanting to know me. Follow up on that Marshalls story. That woman dropped and was definitely dead before she hit the ground. My understanding is that the people walking around her were dealing with the bystander effect. She did unfortunately pee herself and after the paramedics took her body outside, I was told to clean up the urine after I got the line down. My managers never asked if I was okay, didn’t close down the store, nothing. I thought that if somebody dies in store then they have to shit the store down but I think the managers got around that because she was technically confirmed dead out in the parking lot, since that’s where they tried using the defibrillator on her. I can relate. I used to work at Burlington (clothing store similar to Marshalls) and one time an older man dropped to the ground, having a seizure. He cracked his head open on impact with a clothing rail and the floor. He was actively bleeding on the ground. No customer said anything to us until 30 minutes after it happened, when a little girl started screaming bloody murder. Medics didnt arrive until 45 minutes after the guy fell. The guy died on the floor of the store. Corporate told us to stay open. Me and another coworker had to create a "barricade" until the floor could be cleaned. I watched that man die. Anything retail sucks.

So, I'm helping other customers and ringing people up WHILE trying to tell his wife how to get to the hospital (it was right next door and faster to drive, but we eventually sent someone to drive them). I continued working like nothing happened because it was so chaotic but I always wondered what happened to him. I also once got in trouble because a clearly delusional man, who very much needed help, was trying to talk to me for hours. I was 17 and didnt know what to do, but trying to be nice and keep a smile cause I couldn't be rude to customers. So I'm answering phones, taking orders, helping tables and prepping shit all while I have this man in a dog collar with a string of engagement rings tell me about how he's gonna take me to his provate island. And I got in trouble because i couldn't get him to go away. LIKE i was a child lmao I can't believe the shit that was expected of me. Same thing happened at the restaurant I worked at. A guy was celebrating his 40th birthday, had a heart attack and dropped dead at the table. The restaurant kept going while the paramedics were taking his body out. The waitresses were serving customers, crying their eyes out, shaking and traumatized. I was surprised, but the cheap owners allowed the customers that were too disturbed by the event to leave without paying their food lol

I have a theory: Ethan kept bashing and making fun of the Insider journalist who interviewed Ian. But, did he ever think that maybe the journalist is actually a fan of the show and knows the lore? I feel like the way that Ian was answering the questions in the interview would’ve raised an eyebrow to anyone who was trying to conduct a real interview. Still, the journalist chose to use Ian’s off-the-wall answers in the article anyway, almost purposefully. Plus, why wouldn’t a journalist interview an actual moderator in charge of r/Kanye instead of an “honorary moderator” who can’t even moderate the subreddit to its full extent? So my theory is; the journalist who conducted the initial interview for Insider is a fan of the show trying have a laugh. But, the subsequent articles that essentially copy the original Insider article, deserve to be made fun of.

i was waiting in line to check in for jury duty and someone died of a heart attack in front of me. the paramedics tried to revive him but they couldn’t and all just wheeled him out and cracked jokes. had to wait another 2hrs and then was told they didn’t need me. thanks for the trauma :)

I never worked at a restaurant, but I did work for a Halloween store. We did lines and tequila shots in the back during the 4 AM shift during peak Halloween season. One of my coworkers was so drunk during his shift that he kept stumbling into the walls of boxes, so I had to hide him behind a stack of them so he could sleep it off.

My daughter is 4, 5 in Feb. Her father literally lives within walking distance hasn't seen her or even tried calling her since she was 4minths old. It gives me the worst mom guilt. But I also don't regret calling things off. He was also pretty violent and deep into Addiction. In all honesty its probably a gift hes keeping his distance... But still its the fact you just abandoned an innocent , precious child.

Also teach her to vet men better than wasting her 20's with F boys then settling with an abusive jack off in her 30's. The best thing you can do is making Jesus her father figure (she needs a father figure) to pray to, and the bible being her greatest guidance for her soul and purity. Teach her to protect her sexuality and be proud of being kind, gentle, femenine, loving etc. which is natural and in her female biology, do not supress it. Do this and she will live a happy natural life and marry a king, she will not repeat your mistake.

i hope you find a way to forgive yourself. you're doing the right thing. if you stayed together your kids' father would unfortunately just psychologically mess your kid up and your kid would more than likely develop a tendency to date people that do not treat her right and possibly even develop an addiction of her own. break that cycle of abuse (before it is passed on) for your kid and do not look back and do not feel guilty. also having gone through a decade of addiction myself and the fact that I've been sober for 5 years there is hope... stay strong and you will find a man that you and your kid deserve to have in your life. not to mention who knows... maybe he will show back up one day and not be a piece of shit but don't hold your breath.

Bartender here. Restaurants do not care about labor laws lol. Breaks? Not a thing, even when you're working 14+ hours. Blatant sexual harassment with no consequences, ever. The amount of illegal shit going on so casually and openly is shocking to people who haven't worked in a restaurant. No one says anything because it's just so broadly accepted as normal by anyone who has been in this industry for any period of time. People who do speak up get weeded out and nothing changes. I love my job though, I like the fast paced, physical work. Could do without shitty corporations taking advantage of us though and the Karens who like to go on a power trip.

The best thing about the Ian article is the subtle nods to real Kanye fans like himself (you know, the old Kanye), my fave being "cradling their graduation vinyls" as graduation was the only album of the early Kanye releases THAT WAS NOT released on vinyl.
