My most awkward moment with public speaking was probably the ONLY time I wasn't freaking out about it. I had practiced for hours the night before for this presentation of mt. Krakatoa. I was totally confident, I walked up in front of the class and turned on my presentation there was a giant picture of a toe and a table. I began talking "So my presentation is about when you are walking to the kitchen late and night and you stub your toe on the table and are like AHH I CRACKED A TOE-AH...haha just kidding it's about mount Krakatoa!" NO ONE in the room laughed, I stood there waiting for someone to react but they were so silent. This was in my second year of high school, I would have thought it was a bad dream if the person who later became my husband wasn't in that class and saw it. Looking back it makes me cringe I can only fathom what the other kids thought. My husband later said that's when he KNEW he wanted to marry me.

I think the teacher had a sympathy cringe when I drug myself into the room to give a stuttering, fidgeting, line forgetting 12 minutes too long speech on paranormal alien activity. I think she knew I really had a disorder, but the class was required, so passed me out of sympathy for how badly my peers would look at me forever lmao.

When I was five at school we put on a play for christmas , I was santa, I only had to walk through a fake cardboard chimney, pull out some presents from a bag and put them under a tree, then back through the chimney. I trip over the chimney out in front of everyone, look at them and completely freeze up for a good minute, the teacher whispered something at me and I snapped out of it completely forgetting the presents. I'm still there to this day behind that fake chimney.

The problem was that there were other people in the room, one of them was in my grade and I knew him so I had to whisper to this lady. I kept having to repeat myself cause she couldn't hear me. Then she understood me finally and had me call my mom to pick me up. Nobody knows this happened besides the secretary and the nurse. Next day the other kid in my office was like "Why were you acting so weird in the office?" I just told him that I was sick. I was holding in my poops cause the school bathrooms were fucking disgusting and I was self-conscious of using them. I sharted myself again a different time cause I laughed too hard in class. I am amazed that I managed to not be fucking laughed at as nobody ever found out. It was my last period and school was like 5 minutes from being over so I just cleaned myself up and waited it out. Then got home and took a shower. I've never wanted to die so much in my entire life.

So this one little time that we were in history class the fatass teacher decides to walk out to go buy lunch or something and i'm like fuck no please no don't start wrestling, and I'm just there sitting calmly in my desk hoping these goofs don't start wrestling, as soon as the teacher walks out and shuts the door they all get up and start doing headlocks to eachother. One guy sees I'm not joining in and grabs me and headlocks me to get me up. I'm there just clenching my ass cheeks together as tight as possible because the pain makes me wanna fart. Then the moment of truth comes, the dude pulls me to the ground and falls on top of me, the pain is too much, i let the fart go and this fucker comes out with extra pressure. Shiteverywhere.exe The liquid shit comes out and its dripping through my uniform. The guy on top of me immediately lets go of me and everyone in class is just laughing and making grossed out faces. Oh no fucker you made me shit myself now we're finishing this match, so i chase after this guy and he's pushed up against the corner of the classroom. Everybody knows whats gonna happen they're all looking in pain, so I'm right in front of him and hes just pushing up against the corner i give him my back and then give him the stink face... Then the teacher came back and we were both excused to go to our houses to take baths and return, the teacher didn't really wanna know what was going on so he just excused us, i mean just imagine walking in and seeing a guy with shit smeared on his head and another who shit his pants This was kind of a fun experience, whenever I'm drinking with my friends this story usually pops up and we all start laughing our lungs out, its kinda awkward whenever the girls from that class are around though and i fart

That's the most embarrassing thing Ethan has ever experienced? On a chilly day in high school, while walking downhill on wet grass, I slipped and landed flat on my back in a deep, muddy puddle. The entire lunch period saw it and bursted into laughter. Completely soaked, I had to waddle my happy ass to the gym locker room and change into gym clothes for the rest of the day. This lead me to be one minute late for class. The goddamn teacher wouldn't allow me to sit down, telling me I needed to go to Sweep. I tried to explain what the hell happened (as the class was giggling at the situation), but she treated me like some kind of scumbag and threatened to call security. (I thought we were cool, too!) It took the rest of the school year for the hilarity to die down, and things never were the same between that teacher and me.

I only got over public speaking when I had a class where you have to present every week. Eventually I was able to realize that no one really cares about your performance that much. Just speak loudly and with a smile. I'd still get nervous if I have no idea what I'm going to say beforehand though. But I'm assuming that's normal.

When I came to America from Russia I didn't Know any English at all and never heard it before so I had to learn it by watching/listening to other kids talk and try to remember how they pronounced words and figure out what they mean. I had ESL class but it didn't help me much since it was only for like an hour each day out of the school day. But anyways before I always had hard time pronouncing certain words the right way and it always gave me anxiety and embarrassed me, for example everytime my teacher picked me to count some numbers or say the answer to a math problem, if the number was six I would mispronounce it by saying "sex" and other words too and it always sucked.

yo i have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety!!! i would love some tips as i had to quit my job recently because of my anxiety taking over (i'm a teen so it's fine) any protips will be greatly apppreciated

I have it too. Although I'm not much of success story, one thing I can attest to, is don't allow yourself to become a shut-in. The more you avoid your triggers, the greater anxiety your triggers produce. Go to group counseling. You'll meet people who understand exactly what you're going through and have the potential of being a really great friend.

karen yt Ive started up srris recently, I can't say if they are working or not yet, but you can give them a try I've heard a lot of good things about them but it can have side effects,It's important that you read up on the medicine before you start taking them. Also I've been trying meditation to help calm my mind down, it can be useful to do before going to a social setting, I try to do it twice everyday. One last thing I recommend is checking out a guy named Noah elkrief on KZbin he's got some pretty handy videos. Best of luck to you!

Whatever you do don't self-medicate( hard drugs). I can tell you from personal experience that it only makes it worse. Definitely find a counselor whom you're comfortable with and talk it out as much as possible. Good luck! Everybody has anxiety to a certain degree so don't feel like you're alone.
