I have a lot of experience with high end builds..I can’t see this house costing anywhere near $16.5M..I’d like to see what they used for comps..it is possible that it was put on the market for that price and that would explain why it has been sitting for so long..it would have to be sitting on an ocean/lake view property to get anything remotely close to that price even with the M. Monroe connection.

Ethan, of the mid century houses you’ve explored so far this is by far the coolest. Everything from the pool at the start to the vintage bike in the garage to the bar in the basement and everything else in between screams retro 1960’s all over it but in a good way. It’s in actually quite good shape for its age and could be totally restorable. Love especially that sparking bathroom on the main floor with the mirrors; if that doesn’t say “Marilyn Monroe” I don’t know what else would. Even those 60’s intercoms are amazing and so ahead of their time. Definitely looks as though the basement had some upgrades in the 80’s but apart from that this house is a winner.

I grew up in a m.c.m. house it was 900 square feet, 3 bed one bath, a modest house my parents had built in 1962. It had a galley style kitchen, ceiling heat, wood floors, the dishwasher was one of those mom would roll out of the utility room and hook up to the kitchen faucet. My brother, parents and I lived in it until 1983, I miss that place.

I’d like a little more proof this was made for and owned by Marylin. Where is it located. She only lived in LA and once in NY. For being abandoned so long and there’s still bathroom accessories? And toilet paper, paper towels and bottled water? That’s a valuable property why is it empty and not renovated? Lots of mysteries to solve here

I think someone else was exploring too, you can hear someone talking when he goes to the basement and see someone when he’s in the front of the house.

It is an understated house as far as size for a Hollywood star but I think that massive houses were not as common in Mid Century Hollywood. The house that Monroe died in was very beautiful with great features but it wasn't huge by today's celebrity standards so her taste didn't seem ostentatious as it does now as far as Hollywood stars. I think the housing material shortage post WW2 curtailed people's demand for massive homes in the Mid Century. Great video. Thanks, Ethan.

I see you were exploring with someone, so that explains all the footsteps I heard but did you see the office/den door swing open and closed at 13:01? Don't know if that was your partner in there or not but I never heard anyone come or go from there as you were exploring the room with crayon drawings all over it.

In 1962 Marilyn died at her home In Brentwood Ca No homes were built for especially this one. Ethan please explain this one...😢 This house was not built for Marilyn..

Pssst, this home never had anything to do with Marilyn...click bait!! It's on High Point Road in Toronto, Canada and we were told was yet another home owned by the family that founded Canadian Tire...the main mansion just north on the same street! How do I know this, because in 1978 my parents were going to buy it for $675,000 but my sisters and myself did not want to move so my parents purchased a huge property in Muskoka and began one of the largest non-profit kids camps in the world!! So, no Marilyn!!!

Wow... what a shame that place just sets there rotting away empty like that. Canada needs to stop letting places sit and rot til somebody buys it just to tear it down. There was so much in this house worth saving. The lot/yard was amazing. You can tell deer were laying in that yard by the way the grass was lying. I'm sure they think they are living a great peaceful life with a yard like that where no one is ever around. Great place to check out. I love seeing the old. So many memories of the colors and lights in homes like this. Doesn't hardly look lived in. Thanks for sharing another good abandoned place, Ethan! Do you do videos as your full-time job? I'm just asking since you put out more than others do. Keep up the great adventures.

New subscriber! I was typing out a reply and somehow got deleted, haha. Anyway, I was just saying how nostalgic this house makes me feel. My parents were of the same generation as MM, and the house I grew up in that they built in Ohio. My parents chose similar architectural and design elements. The slate floor in the entryway -- my parents had a black slate floor in their entryway and the long hallway leading away and down to the other rooms. They also had black and gold flocked wallpaper in the entryway and the one wall that led up the stairs. I loved all the little details, like the built-in bookshelves in the living room (I know she was a reader, and I am too). The wall of windows that looked out onto the nature and brought so much light in, and really, the abundance of windows throughout the house are something I also appreciate. Houses today are built like caves without enough natural sunlight. I really liked the unfinished or light stains on the wood elements in the home. The wood floors were so beautiful, everything was beautiful! So peaceful and calm. A lovely retreat from the real world. I wish I could live there! I can imagine how I would furnish and decorate, with teal blue velvet chairs and sofa, white floor length sheer curtains blowing in the breeze and light and dark oceanic and beach colors (which are my favorite!), and a nice art studio in one of those well-lit rooms. One can daydream, haha.

It is a very uniqie and amazing home. With all the research I've been able to achieve on Marilyn, this home was not built for her. She had just purchased her home in Los Angeles 2 years before her death. If there is evidence of this being made for her Ive yet to find it but it is beautiful for sure.

I wasn’t expecting it to be in that great of shape. The second little house attached is probably a Guest House. I bought a mid century home in 2005. It was split level, has two fire places that covered the entire wall from top to bottom and left to right. The main bathroom as all original, Lavender tile, Lavender toilet, sink, toilet paper holder, tile on the walls in the enter bathroom, soap Holder, the Lavender, porcelain tub, was really very big. When I moved I wanted to take the bathroom with me lol

Well, they're within their right to speak up if they think something false is being shown, especially about such a famous person. This is not the home she lived in and not the home normally thought of when you say Marilyn Monroe. I thought the same when I saw the picture, until I heard what he said about the home being built the same year she passed.
