Nice explanation I have one question How ether channel will going to adjust the load balance if two links goes down. It would really helpful if you could provide the answer.

So I actually want no load balancing, rather force all traffic to use one link and leave the other link only as a backup. Is this possible to configure?

Yes indeed. Interestingly, that’s the behavior you have by default thanks to Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). Enjoy your studies!

Hi, so when you say use a dynamic protocol for ether channel, are you saying that the whole PO wouldn't have been err-disabled if a dynamic ether channel was configured? So ether channel misconfig is only for static POs?

Yes, you are correct. If you are running LACP or PAgP, the interface would be removed from the bundle and set to independent mode, and spanning-tree would sort things out to make sure the port channel is still operational. That's one reason why it's recommended that we use LACP or PAgP.
