Ethics is a big deal in the business world and can pose many issues. Ethical dilemmas are faced daily and corporate managers must decide what is best for the company and all individuals involved. Many factors play into determining what decision a person may make, including their personal ethical and moral values. This video did a really good job at explaining ethical issues and illustrating examples of ethical dilemmas that may arise in the business world.

Ethics is probably my most favorite topic to discuss because it is everything. Especially business ethics because there is so much you can go into. This video taught me four important lessons to take away from which include: the definition of business ethics, major ethical issues in the world, the roots of unethical behavior, and five major philosophical approaches to business ethics. Business is very broad and if you aren't being careful you can get carried away in unethical behavior. In other classes we always cover ethical dilemmas regarding the workplace here in the U.S., we never go over what would be considered ethically correct in other cultures. As mentioned in the video, here in the U.S. one would not employ a child, however, in many other countries it’s necessary for children to work to get basic necessities , be able to go to school, or to help support their families.

I love learning about ethics. I think it’s very interesting how certain behaviors and universally thought as correct or incorrect- and then it breaks further into different questions. This video gave a very good concept of some of the hard decisions that have to be made when dealing with international business. The first fictional scenario really showed me how difficult it can be to make an ethical decision when trying to uphold the ethical standard of your company, but not put anyone out in a situation that is dangerous. Ethics is often overlooked in business. Until recently managers were always profit-driven first and only softly focused on the idea of ethics. Ethics is such an important topic to talk about. As ethics are different from culture to culture around the global market what is accepted in one culture may not be accepted in another culture. I feel like child labor is always talked about and seen as inhumane but the working conditions are not often talked about and those can be more dangerous for a family than a child working. Biggest takeaway from the video for me is regarding the hypothetical scenario at the opening of the video. Is it correct to follow the host nation's policies or home nation's policies and view on ethics? Good question. Each situation should be carefully looked at. The scenario illustrates that. This was a great lecture because it depicted and broke down ethics and also went into how it can be seen in different ways in a variety of countries.

I think it's very important for people who conduct business outside their home nations or with people of different cultures to learn and understand the ethics of their environment. Ethics is very different from culture to culture so it is very important to be aware of the norms and what is and isn't acceptable. It's very important to be on the lookout for unethical behaviors, even if small it can grow into something that isn't safe for a good working environment.
