One issue with this movie is it spreads the false idea that clones aren’t humans or real people. In fact chances are you’ve met a few clones in real life, that’s what twins are. Their DNA is identical. What’s important to keep in mind is there’s a lot more to a person than just their DNA.
@marvelfan2.0595 жыл бұрын
I rember watching this the first time when I was a teen back in School. I was probably 14 to 15 watching this for the first time. It was my first taste or learning about how greed and materialism can at times be bad. There are two types of greed, positive greed and negative greed. And with what I saw in this film, really shows the latter`s a lot.

predictive programming, maybe it exposes something about our world too. One thing this movie brings up is organ harvesting... it can be unsettling because the person must be living when the organ is harvested, it's not just in movies. I think a lot of movies that get you to think about the world, even in the form of a parable or analogy, get rotten tomatoes just so people distract themselves with something else. An unthinking population makes iniquity profitable***.

If there was 12 differents stories for their past, wouldn't they talk with eachother about their memories and find out they have the same story which would set an alarm that something is wrong?
@sidearmsalpha4 жыл бұрын
Their education is limited so they probably don't question it very much. Plus, the guards that patrol the facility where they are break up any acts of disobedience or resistance immediately. Lincoln is the main one that really starts to question what's going on and rebels. He manages to escape and takes Jordan with him.
@Dmoskians3 жыл бұрын
@@sidearmsalpha Well the stories are switched around but he has a point. People relate alot through memory for commonalities and to relate to one another. So those guards would be getting paid a fortune if they have to seperate people before they get into in depth conversation. For the record i don't think they do. They seem to have only chimed in when they notice the clones getting intimate or having emotional outbursts. They keep them busy so they probably don't get to go that deep.

Not gonna lie, this scene, and Mac's character as a whole, made me a fan of Steven Buscemi. One of his most underrated roles And whenever I think of this scene, I always recall a bit of Roger Ebert's review of the movie as written on Wikipedia, wherein one of his few critiques was how the movie how it "didn't use the future to criticize the present". But does this scene not demonstrate that, with everything Mack explained? Sure, yeah, the rich and elite aren't using clones to keep themselves alive and healthy. But there's no doubt that the moment cloning is perfected, the ultra-rich will have clones of themselves created in order to have replacement parts for themselves (usually a consequence of their lavish lifestyle), or even just to look younger, and the only thing they'll care about is the legal ramifications for taking part in this sort of practice. And people like Merrick would take advantage of that drive to make themselves even richer and powerful, no matter the ethical and moral costs. But even then, this sort of thing is something many rich and powerful have done and still do to this day; doing the most unethical shit to get one step ahead of everyone else. And just as Mac said, the only thing the rich care about is the legal ramifications and worldwide backlash they'd receive; otherwise, they wouldn't give a shit about something they otherwise benefit from, no matter the suffering it brings to others

I'm sure many of us would love to think this life is some mistake concocted by people given too much control by people who have no control. But it's the real thing. No dress rehearsal. Everyone has a common line of humanity they want to go on, a heartsong they want to answer. What will you do with your time? We can't waste our time thinking someone will come along and clean things up to make things easier for us so we can have the real life again - or even entertain that notion to show certain others we refuse to make a decision for a while.
