Another thing that helps the smell of vintage leather, is saddle soap. Scrub that puppy and buff it dry, if it seems a little dull, use clear paste wax polish for shoes, and polish and buff. Inside, I use Downy wrinkle releaser plus. This lets you re-shape the interior(moisten and finger press into shape) and deodorize. like febreeze. If there is a Moldy component, you need to get a bottle of MoldControl. It kills any mold that might be there, smelling bad. I like vintage, because, even though I have the money, I can't find quality goods to purchase. The stores are filled with the outlet quality line of brandname goods, The first quality is in thrift shops or online sales platforms.

Everyone: upvote this and share your own tips! Someone in the live chat premiere said to use alcohol on the lining to remove smells :)

Wow, great info! With the Downy, do you mean it's a liquid that you use with moist fingers? I don't buy fabric softener, etc, normally, but I'm very curious about this. Thanks!

There is a cleaner that you can find at most craft/fabric stores called Granny's. It will literally get any kind of stain out, even ones that have been set/dried or are eons old. It comes in a 2 or 3oz bottle, but lasts forever since you only need to put drops on the stain. It's gotten mustard out, oil stains, lipstick, and even baby accidents. It is a miracle product, and totally worth tracking down.

I love this kind of video from you! I’ve been team thrift/secondhand for all of my life, and it’s great to see you sharing your love for it as well. Hopefully this will encourage others to branch out and try it out for themselves. Something that I tell people when they’re interested in my love for thrifting is that it’s basically a passion for me. To me, it’s so much more than just shopping when I thrift, especially for vintage. There’s a love there for each item that I buy, because those items each have their own unique history, and it’s interesting to try to imagine what that history is. I can’t really explain it without sounding crazy, but hopefully some may understand what I’m trying say. Lol. Great video, Cora!

First of all: I always love your videos, second: I love buying second hand, especially when the closest second-hand shop is literally across the street from my home. Just the other week I went when everything was for 50 cents and I bought a dress and a few tops for less than 10 euros (I love this shop because there are a lot of new, unworn last season clothes from my favourite brands. I even snagged a dress that was originally 70 euros for 50 cents that I wanted a few months ago :D).

I LUV that divine dress!!! I take leather goods to a local shoe repair shop. He tells me what they need; strap adjusted, cleans, resoles, tips, new straps, mending a rip. Super worth it. Extends the life like it's brand new again. The straw bag is prob full grain leather and repairable. The blue coat color is gorgeous. Consider removing those pads. Often they don't change the outline beyond an updated look. If you do want pads you can put in something smaller. I'd take it to a tailor because you'll prob like it even better with a closure adjustment. I'm a big fan of vintage. A good tailor might even find the fabric for a belt. Ya' never know what kind of magic they can do.

Loved the style of this video Cora! :) OK, story-time. I find it funny, and pleasing at the same time, how it all changes. I have been thifting almost my whole life. When I was born, Poland got out of comunnism and new businesses where sprouting everywhere - thrift shops came along. Buying used, manufactured clothing was a phenomenon (because you almost couldn't buy anything during PRL), but unfortunately very quickly became a faux pas and was associated with low class, who don't have money for new shit. After '89, as I said before, we started to have normal boutiques and shops alongside thrift ones, and when I went to school at 7yo, wearing used clothes wasn't really... in fashion, let's say. Kids at school used to mock me and make fun of me for wearing used clothing. I gave in so I could "fit in" and somwehere between eleven or fifteen yo, I wanted my mom to buy me only new clothes. Then, I went to high school and re-discovered myself and my style has been changing a lot during that period of time, so I started buying second-hand again. Now, when I'm 30, I buy as much second-hand as I possibly can, and since sustainabilty is A THING now, more and more people buy second-hand and I am so happy about it, you wouldn't believe. :D You can say I'm an OG thrifter, been doing it before it was cool and all XD haha. But really, I am happy world changes for the better. And thrifting is SO MUCH FUN! Also, I'm cheap XD, so it's best way to enjoy "the search" for items combined with saving shit ton of money along the way. :) OK, yes, I'm done. XD love you!
