Ethnic conflict and murder grip India’s state of Manipur - BBC News

The state of Manipur in north-east India has been rocked with ethnic violence, in a conflict marked by murder and sexual crimes against women.
The fighting between the majority Meitei and minority Kuki communities has left hundreds of people dead. Neighbours who lived peacefully together are now involved in a bloody conflict over issues including rights to land, jobs and political power.
The state is deeply divided and with claims that India’s government has been slow to step in, civilians are taking matters into their own hands.

As a permanent resident of Manipur, I want the whole world to know that the Government has failed the people of Manipur. The ethnic war is between the Meiteis and Kukis but other tribes also suffer a lot from this crisis. It's been almost 5 months that internet facilities are shut down. I beg the whole world to put necessary pressure on our Hon'ble PM Modi ji for restoring nolmalcy at the earliest. Students have not been able to attend classes for almost 6 months now. Prices of commodities, fuel etc have risen up.

Kuki men get killed in their own villages in the hills. Meitei men are killed in Kuki villages too. Why do the Meitei men continue to go to the Kuki villages in the hills? Thousands of acres hill areas are first devoid of trees and natural vegetation then strong herbicides and fertilizers are used to render the areas uncultivable but suitable for Poppy plantation. These nefarious activities have been going on for more than a couple decades. Mind you such hill areas are hard to reach terrain and gaurded by armed militants of the Kuki group. But in recent years the Manipur government decided to take actions and destroy the Multi- million dollar business. This triggered the Kuki community so much they made other excuses to start a war against the Meitei community which has been going on now for 4 months

Meitei colonies and communities and all houses in Kuki dominated areas namely Churachandpur and border Town Moreh( Myanmar border) have been razed to the ground and their colonies turned into parks, after looting all belongings in the houses. The war that broke out in Manipur is not a religious war but a war between Meiteis and the Kuki-zo community. But the problem here in this war was that: 1.
