Etho!!! Your world is corrupt! You have to read the messages from the game launcher and if you see "Wrong Location! [Entity]", then you have to delete the chunk the given entity is located in. If you don't do it, the immense lag will soon start to appear and you can end up with up to 1.2k glitched entities (It happened to me aswell once)

My guess is that the chunk that you made the portal in is corrupted, but I think that the person who told you that the packed ice was there didn't know that the chunk would corrupt, try building the portal on another chunk, if it works you will just have to walk a bit more.

Hahaha nice editing Etho! I downloaded the world, went into the latest snapshot, and tried to place the portal in the exact location and I turned out in an Ice Spikes biome and the coords were at a perfect scale from the nether. Good job Etho you had me convinced for a while there :D

Looks like a bug in the new snapshot. The ratio of the nether co-ordinates to the normal worlds co-ordinates are 8:1. When you entered the portal, your co-ordinates multiplied by eight, then multiplied by eight again. X Co-ordinates in the nether: 350 x 8 = 2800 2800 x 8 = 22400 Z Co-ordinates in the nether: -1250 x 8 = -10000 -10000 x 8 = -80000

Hey etho, if it teleported you by a factor of 80x, what if you went to the cords what would correspond to the right coords, so instead of -1250, go to -156 (divide by 8) or to -15.6 (divide by 80), and instead of 346 go to 43 (divide by 8) or 4.3(divide by 8), maybe you'll get similar results, if it would do the same for you

except its more of a chuck corruption glitch, which causes the portal calculation to run twice, so instead of sending him the usual 8 times, it sends him 64 times or 8^2. which in this case is actually what the coords calculate out to

Once in a blue moon people stumble upon a zone and in that zone nothing works right. Portals offset you by hundreds maybe even thousands. Mobs will moon walk everywhere they go. Sand and gravel fall up and water doesn't flow. Some people call it a glitch, but I... I call it the Twicraft Zone!

Hey etho! I was watching your video and saw how you went super far away from your target. This is because you are in 14w21b. I tried the same thing on 14w21b and got the weird mountain thingy. But then when I went to 1.7.9 I found the ice spike biome you are looking for. Don't worry downgrading to 1.7.9 will not break any of your creations with the 1.8 snapshot blocks. The game handles this really well and when you update again the blocks will come back and fix themselves. So if you would take the time to do this in 1.7.9 you will get your desired results. :) I hope this helps

Hey Etho, in the future if you want to see if something like the triple blaze spawner is a troll you can recreate the your world by either using the recreate button or just making a world with the same seed. Also, I haven't tested it but I think the portal teleportation thing is a glitch just in the snapshot and will probably be fixed in the next one. If it is a glitch I think the ice biome is a troll and whoever told you about it knew about the glitch and was just trying to make you get teleported way out from your base. Also I've always wondered how long after you post a video you read the comments, because sometimes I am hesitant to ask a question in the comments because I think by that time you have already read through the comments and wont come back to see the new ones. Keep up the great work Etho!

I did some experimenting, and I found that the world corrupts past 10,000 very often and crashes the game. Maybe if you try to go there in a nether portal, it will just put you in the nearest stable location?

I think what happened is that the overworld portal placement process (or coords x 8) happened twice by mistake. 350 * 64 is 22400 and 1250 * 64 is 80000. But that's strange it did that for being such an old feature.

I think that the Modded Minecraft videos may have replaced them. Personally, since they started the new modded minecraft series, I haven't really cared about SMP anymore. It's the same thing but with more content. I enjoy TerraFirma Craft, Singleplayer can sometimes be interesting (i watch them all regardless), and I enjoy the UHC's. I just don't really mind anymore if SMP is gone.

Etho! I think the reason why that happened to you is because you were in an amplified terrain so maybe that bugs up the nether. Also, it could be from the new snapshot, too. Idk why but in the new snapshot 14w21b it never spawns alot of mobs. I have tons of mobs nearby but when I press F3 and show it all, it shows how theres maybe a 10-20 mob difference from that to peaceful. Thank you.

I do not know if he programs anymore but if you wach some really oldd episodes from early beta he talked about a xbox to pc controler program he made, where he tried on minecraft thet episode...not sure wich one but his videos are so awesome it's worth waching from ep1 to now again if you got time :)

hey etho i love ur vids, my fav series of yours is the singleplayer vanilla ones and ive only just watched all of them the last few months, and im glad ur not starting ur world again, but i would like some SMP vids back, bdoubleO been busy on the arena and his almost done and hex village i was loving, i like ftb and terrafirmacraft but less of them would be better, terrafirmacraft i like the least, thanks for keeping me entertained for so long

I love terrafirmacraft! His LP world is getting a little, well not boring but its more of a lets build now then a lets play. I love modded mine craft as it makes the game fresh and interesting. I especially like less Grundy mod packs.

the issue was probably that you were at coordinates that would spawn you inside a giant mountain. it probably looked for the flattest land it could find and that was it. try raising the y value of your portal to something that would clear mountains
