It sounds like multi-threading for chunk loading is when it uses multiple threads of a processor to do it's chunk loading, but since you are running fraps on the same threads as the multi-threading chunk loading, it overlaps and makes it load slow. I don't know how this would work, but set Fraps and Minecraft to run on different cores, which can be done in the task manager.

I don't know what enchantment it is for boots but you can get it and it helps you walk and run underwater as fast as you do on land.

It's called depth strider. And I don't think it's as fast as walking on land, but definitely fast.

Take a bucket of milk with you to the water temple to clear the mining fatigue. I mined a tunnel under my water temple and brought a cow with me so I could milk it to keep clearing the mining fatigue. It worked like a boss.

Foxy Ninetails I don't know how the mining fatigue works, so that might work. But if it affects you like a beacon effect, then you would need to keep drinking milk, as the effect gets reapplied to you over time.

Cook the wet sponge to get dry sponge :D if you place a dry sponge in water it will absorb lots of water around it

Dear Etho, There's two things i wanted to tell you in this comment. First thing is that there actually is a new enchantment added in 1.8 called 'Depth Strider' to make you move faster underwater. I would suggest putting that on your 'Boots of the Traveler'. Second thing: to answer your question about that the guardians have 'Thorns', I would have to say both 'Yes' and 'No'. When they have got there spikes out, they indeed hurt you everytime you hit them, so you could say their skin has 'Thorns' enchanted on it. Then on the other hand, when their spikes are retreated, they do not damage you when you damage them. Hope you learned something :)

Why can't they just revamp the Desert Temples to have a chance of spawning more big and elaborately with mummies? This solves a few problems at once, as far as I'm concerned. 1)More hard dungeons = more to do = more fun. 2)People wouldn't rage about the new dungeons _not fitting in_ with minecraft, because desert temples already do. 3)The water temples would feel less out-of-place than some people felt at the start, because a few other dungeons would be the same size.

The Guardians have a Thorns effect when their spikes are outside, when they are pulled inside(to move, for example) they do not have the Thorns effect

Etho if you don't set your FRAPS to "Lock framerate" you'll get more FPS but it'll still record 30 FPS; Meaning a smoother experience and better chunk loading! :)

Just for reference, VBO's stand for Virtual Buffer Objects and it is considered the most efficient way to render objects as it is handled directly by the graphics card and they stay in memory unless new chunks are loaded or an object is refreshed. I am not sure what their backup rendering is for blocks, but turning it off would probably only hinder performance. My guess is that they threw it in to test threading and benchmark the performance improvement.

Etho, there's also a new enchantment to use on boots that makes you swim faster. also you should just bring a stack of signs to create pockets of air. the Elder Guardians spawn pretty much anywhere around the Water Monuments (inside and out), but once they spawn they don't despawn like regular Guardians. and you can craft Coarse Dirt if you ever want that in plentiful numbers (just takes dirt and gravel).

EthosLab I used sponge's to completly drain one of those temples and then mined the whiole inside out and made it into an epic underwater base with a personal army outside the doorstep, there's loads of stuff you could do with it so i heavily recommend trying it out for yourself and seeing what kind of creative swing you can give it.

Etho, why do you still record using software that also locks your game at 30 fps? It's honestly a rather outdated thing. Things like Dxtory and OBS are simply better, except for being just a little bit more difficult to set up. Also, you don't actually need VSync when you're stuck on a constant fps, since that all that it does to avoid screen tearing.

TackStash779 I don't think that it could make a significant difference, because you have to encode it either way and it doesn't really matter that much how many fps the source is afaik. It may be worth to save those few % if he encoded it on the run, but I believe that's not the case.

Usefull things to know about the temple: They spam randomly -1 boss is in the middle upper room -you can mine again when all the bosses are dead -there is a new enchantment to run fast underwater If you are fast you can get in before they slow down the mining speed Normaly there is a boss in the part next to the entrance or fhe treasure room Normaly the last boss is in one of these longer rooms

Etho most people dont know that but you need projectile protection to reduce the damage taken by the gurdians beams... aswel depth strider is helping swimming quick and running quick under water... it helps killing thr gurdians inside the temple beacause u can run to them fast inath so they cant hit you... keep up the good work and the great videos!

Just a quick note. You asked if they had thorns, if you look closely when they have their spikes extended you take damage from hitting them. When they retract the spikes you don't take damage. :D

Etho, I have a suggestion for your healing station for the iron golems. I think if you set up one of your potion brewing machines making splash potions of instant health and you have minecarts to distribute them to dispensers above the farm, with a timer dispensing the potions you could heal the iron golems. With your redstone knowledge you could manage it. Just a suggestion -- however, possibly an eye-sore with all the redstone on top of the farm. Keep up the great videos.

Watchman MC They also drop Salmon and Pufferfish as well, but it's a rare drop that only shows up when Guardians are killed by the player. It's still possible to implement a killing chamber into a farm though.

I think on the guardian farm you could dump some guardians into the killing area where you could put reeds inbetween you and them. You could either shoot arrows from there or somehow trick skelletons into doing it for you.

for the gold farm: I suggest you split the room in half and set up a door with a tripwire (3 blocks high, door 2 blocks wide so only the irongolems trip it) and dispensers with healing potions and a brewing setup or something

Etho, you should use depth strider enchant on your boots. It makes you run and swim much faster underwater. With depth strider 3 its like you're walking on land on the ocean floor. It will make things much easier.

Hey EthosLab now that they have started bringing more adventurous locations into the minecraft overworld, what kind of ther temples or adventures would you like to see in future versions? Personally I'd like to see a new jungle temple structure. With ancient Aztec zombies and an Aztec priest as a boss. They could drop gold like pigmen or other cool Aztec stuff. And think of the new mossy blocks they could add! Wow.

If you didn't already, you can force enable anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering directly on your graphics card control panel, should work for both Nvidia and AMD Radeon. I am glad to see mipmapping and multicore chunk loading in here, cause it might force some modders to actually code with that working... looking at you, carpentry!

ETHO: You can get prismarine shards & crystals from guardians, which can be crafted into the prismarine blocks and sea lanterns. I think you should use them in your amplified base.

Etho, you should try to get the Depth Strider enchantment on your boots of the traveler. It would make exploring that temple easier and quicker.
