It seems that the algorithm has picked up this video, I’m glad it did because I had a fun time reminiscing about Mind Crack UHC. Also this made my realize that the Life Series is kind of a spiritual successor to UHC and it makes me happy to see that Etho has been able to be a part of it

One of the best parts of UHC while it was coming out was the Reddit keeping track of stats. I loved people pouring over hearts loss, what hurt them, who has killed whom, map sketches, predictions based on a team/person's trajectory at the end of the episode. One guy would tally up armor and weapons and enchants, and would post scores for each and overall to get an objective baseline of their relative strengths.

Yeah I always liked reading those Reddit posts. Those posts and also the Mindcrack Altervista wiki are pretty helpful for being a condensed archive of a lot of the information related to Mindcrack UHCs.

This was such a good walk down memory lane, thanks for making such a good video. I've been watching Etho (and Pause during the Mindcrack days) for so long. UHC was such a fun series back in the day nothing really has come close to the excitement of it, except maybe the Life series, which Etho plays in.

this really brought be back to when i was a kid watching mindcrack. thanks for making this, man. their UHCs were always such a highlight for me. also random side note at 21:44 i remember this team (bdubs, doc, zisteau) being such a funny team to watch. i think at one point bdubs put on a player head of a player they killed earlier which jumpscared doc into hitting him with his sword and giving him his golden apple. zisteau and bdubs then just stood there bursting out in laughter. that shit killed me back then.

Man, thanks for this breakdown. I was never a huge fan of UHC when it was coming out, but I have fond memories watching Mindcrack back in the day, especially their FTB content. Nice to revisit those names and faces I haven’t seen in awhile. It’s crazy that I’m still watching Etho, Bdubs, and Doc after all these years!

This made me nostalgic for Mindcrack. Back in the day, I was a Beef main, so it was interesting seeing the other side! I found it very funny how for me, S4a was basically non-existent (because of how soon Beef died), but S4b was so so good with the dogs, but in the Pause and Etho storyline, you entirely skipped over S4b. I'm glad Beef still posts the Team Canada CTM videos, even though neither Etho nor Pause bother anymore. Whenever I wanna feel nostalgic I throw one of those on. Thank you for making a video celebrating Mindcrack in its heyday as a fan, rather than the many videos talking about where it went wrong. Mindcrack was my foray into mcyt fandom, so thank you for this video!!

I also never got why the last two were only on beefs channel. Though my favorite team Canada moment was when Etho blew up Beefs face in Ruins of the Mindcrackers

I want to gush about Pause a little bit. From about season 5 onwards I was always a Pause supporter. His role as a kind of antihero but also an underdog really endeared him to me. I say he was more of an underdog because he was never expected to win until it was undeniable how good he was. Etho was always the favourite amongst the community. He was more knowledgeable about the game, always got better equipped and knew, on paper at least, how to win. Pause on the other hand was very rash, made mistakes and his hot-bar was always a nightmare. He could just as easily die to environmental hazards as win the whole thing. But he was skilful, instinctual and aggressive in pvp and when push came to shove, he always got the better of Etho. Season 10 was his absolute peak and my favourite season of UHC. Him and MCGamer overcame a deficit of over twenty hearts and one teammate to win against the Uppercats. MC made significant contributions but in the end, it was Pause who was the last alive, made the most shots and got all three kills in the final battle. When they had lost, Zisteau said in almost disbelief: "Man... he... did it... holy cow". When he started to build a rightful reputation, especially after season 10, other players would really start to fear encountering him. I remember in season 16, Beef saw BTC away from his teammates and him and Pause chased him down. When BTC saw them he said "Oh God, its the entire light-blue team" and is teammate looked at the teams and said "Oh God, its Pause". He didn't mention Beef or Pakratt, only Pause, that is respect. Pause would then get the first triple kill in Mindcrack UHC history on them. I miss the old days of Mindcrack and UHC and I miss Pause but I think the only regret is that we never got to see Pause and Etho on the same team, or even a full Team Canada in UHC. Regardless, it was a great era of Minecraft that I'll always come back to from time to time.

On the Nebris video, I left a comment giving a rundown of the rest of his career, so I guess this means I should do the same for Pause, eh? Season 17: FFA season where Nebris's reign of glory began, while Pause wasted most of the season wandering the surface without enchants and got lag-killed by MCgamer. Season 18: Pause (the King), Nebris (the God) and Baj kick ass throughout the season, despite part of their achievement being attributed to luck, since Vechs' egg antics screwed his team over. Season 19: Two teams of ten, scattered in the world, but Pause would be reunited with his S10 teammates (Team PMP). Unfortunately, Pause and Pyro would die to Beef, while the dynamic duo of Vechs and BTC would massacre the last five Aqua team members in the most controversial Mindcrack UHC win of all time. Anyone who watched your Nebris video (or the original season, I guess) knows this story. Season 20: TND reunited for another dragon season, but Nebris' team with Pakratt, Vechs and BTC got the better of them, both in a PVP fight and the race to the dragon. Season 21: Start solo, find a teammate in the world. Pause would team up with Aureylian, who, to put it politely, wasn't a great player. No enchanting table for the team, Aurey dies to OMGChad, Pause dies to AnderZEL. Season 22: N3rdfusion on a team of three, but Pause's perspective wasn't recorded, and he effectively lagged to death. His team were the first to be eliminated. Season 23: The first UHC with the new (at the time) combat, where Pause teamed up with Guude and Aureylian. An unimpressive performance, losing Aurey early on, and dying to Baj. Guude also died to Chad later on in the season. At least he outlasted Nebris, who died first this season. Season 24: On a team with Pakratt and Mhykol. The whole team died to PVE early in the season. Season 25: Once again, Pause lost his footage, but he uploaded a "non-UHC" series that was pretty fun to watch. Three teams of five compete for the dragon, but only his team actually attempted to get to the End while their enemies planned on stealing their Ender Eyes. His teammates would all die (MCgamer and Pakratt to PVE, Guude and DireDwarf to PVP), but Pause was actually the last man standing, killing OMGChad and Pommes_Peter. He was killed by an Enderman while trying to solo the dragon. Season 26: Reunited with Beef, but both died to Arkas, who won the season. Strangely, this season was exclusive to Twitch, who were trying to push their video service at the time, as a competitor to KZbin. Season 28: All players are disguised as Guude, with HCJustin being Pause's teammate. They were killed by the world border upon exiting a nether portal. Season 30: Another "find your teammate" season like S21, which he almost won alongside DireDwarf, killing Jsano19, SoccerMVP and Breon, but dying to DahlDantil. Most of these names are unrecognisable to an oldtime Mindcrack fan, since they're the people who joined in more recent years. Season 31: The last three seasons were livestreamed on Twitch, which somehow made them less enjoyable than the episodic series of old. Pause and HCJustin would do well, even though a zombie would steal Pause's kill on Sethbling. Pause would still kill Pyro while Justin killed PliSkiNAKE, but they'd both die to Beef and SoccerMVP respectively. Season 32: Pyro, Baj and Breon were his teammates, and they would all be killed by Sethbling and OMGChad. Later, Guude would kill Pause. Season 33: For the final season of Mindcrack UHC (for now, but I'm not holding my breath for another), Team Nancy Drew would be reunited once more for another dragon season. Unfortunately, SoccerMVP and the UHC God himself, Nebris, would kill Guude, Beef and Baj. Later in the season, Pause would be killed by oldschool Minecraft legend, Coestar, who's team would go on to slay the dragon and win the game. And that's it. I've skipped any seasons where Pause didn't partake, but as always, he was there for most of them. Nebris and Beef outrank him in terms of wins (9 and 8 respectively, to Pause's 7), but his total kill count of 36 has consistently been the highest since season 11, where Etho was tied with him. Had Etho defeated BTC all those years ago, he would've been the deadliest player, at least until Pause overtook him again. Remarkably, Etho's kill count of 15 still puts him in sixth place for kills, despite his absence from half of the seasons. It really goes to show how dominant he was, and how Pause truly was his kryptonite. Despite being completely one-sided, Etho vs Pause is a legendary rivalry, and you did an excellent job telling this largely forgotten story. This is a great video, and so is the Nebris one.

Yeah, I can certainly agree with you there, at least from the competitive point of view, because there will probably always be favoritism with which players are given items by the viewers. (Actually... that one with pause and the horse was the only one I ever watched, so I'm not sure they even had that gimmick for other charity streams.) But yeah, absolutely legendary. I was hoping that @@Bruhlie would mention it even though it had nothing to do with pause vs. etho.

Good essay and chose of clips! This is a pretty good video despite the terrible audio. It's not your voice, it's your mic. If you ever get a new one, you should re-record the audio and upload this again. I'm surprised you didn't include a bit about the "Etho Hates Pause" drama lol especially with Etho having to tell his fanboys to settle down and stop it in his LP #162 "Etho's Plea" @12:18, nor Pause's 2021 UHC Etho kill lol (See my reply to my comment for source.)

Ngl I forgot how much hate Pause got for UHC until the last few days of editing when I was looking for funny KZbin comments to throw in, went to Pause's Season 10 Episode 5 video, and noticed that the comments were disabled. I was pretty young back when Mindcrack UHC was going on so I don't think I ever really realized how much hate he was getting. Also, I don't mean to write-off your criticism of the audio quality, but I don't really understand why some people think its unlistenable. I use a Blue Yeti so I understand it's nowhere near great, but to me unlistenable video quality are my videos from 2020 lol. I tried comparing the quality to KZbinrs who I know also had bad audio quality at some point (Sam O'Nella Academy and, ironically, Etho) and still felt like mine sounded better. IDK if I have just been listening to myself for so long I can't hear all the glaring errors, but to me my audio sounds fine.
