Lmao me too tbh. But also i love being able to go back and restart them over and over again. It's kinda like those shows you binge watch reruns but there's just so much more authenticity and hilarious moments in ethos content than shows that you binge watch.

how can he build that stuff in survival and not in creative first? I would go insane with the messy redstone everywhere. Also it would save him a lot of time, if he would design it in creative first.

Hey Etho, there's a simple way of making it work better/detect if there's no blocks in the sandwicher! If you turn the pulse into a constant signal like you did by accident with that one repeater, you can make a little "blocker" that stops the pulse for the pusher/dropper, and then re-activates it when there's no block coming into the pusher.

Etho, never stop trying new, crazy things. The Nexus was an ambitious project, but you tackled it head on. This tree design is thinking way outside the box, but you just dove right it. And the enthusiasm in your voice and the way you get excited when an idea comes together and you see the product of all that hard work is absolutely infectious. I barely watch anyone's Minecraft videos anymore, but you keep things fresh and entertaining. There's such a wide variety of content all in this one series. Thanks for another awesome episode. Looking forward to the next one.

Etho, your tree produces 5 wood per tree, but the ghast only destroy 2-3 wood per shot. In order for the farm not to get clogged up, you need to have the ghast shoot 2 or 3 times more often than a tree grows. Can you put a repeater by the bone meal dispenser so it only fires half as much? That should slow down the rate of the trees growing. I love the design! Keep up the excellent work :)

Hey Etho, I used to watch your videos 24/7 and loved them to a single bit. But then I kinda lost interest in survival and moved on to the PvP community. Although I don't play Minecraft anymore something on your survival lets plays seems to still attract me. I think it's the sense of nostalgia. I started watching your videos again but it has been over 200 episodes since I lost my interest in survival in 2014 so now I don't recognize a whole lot of builds in your world. I was wondering, will you do another world tour? And if so, when? Anyway, keep up your great work! :D

Hey Etho, the key to transforming stock of logs to a line is transforming it diagonally. This way you can do it as high as you want without triple extenders. And you can increase the speed of breaking logs if you do two lines of them, because ghast can break more than three logs at a time. Thank you for your videos, they are very entertaining.

Excelet video, as always! I'd just like to list a few recommendations for the issues you've been having this episode: •People have suggested using the sandwich makers clock to stop the bonemeal one to avoid the overflow problem. Good one. •If you install sideways leaf crushers, you could use those to get rid of the leaves on your face. Also, it would slow the replanting process down, which could be an alternate solution to the log overflow problem. •About the big oak trees, there's a certain hight they need to grow, I think it's six blocks. that's also the hight a spruce needs, so they can't coexist. However, you could have a block on the top extend and retract, depending on what type o tree you want: if you are growing oaks, you extend the block, otherwise you retract it. •If you really wanna have acacia trees growing, you can: use the leaf crushers themselves to push over any block that grows, not necessarily just the trunk in the middle. Then, on the other side of the farm, you'd have a wall of wood which you can push with a wall of sideways double extenders, which would feed the sandwich maker. But you'd need to move it. Long comment, hope you read it and find it useful!

it was so satisfying when he realized we can in fact constantly update the piston because we're already repeatedly ticking the bonemeal dispenser... that's so fun to see a solution come together. I love this contraption so much idk why
@Lazerjo2000
@Lazerjo2000 8 жыл бұрын
I may be missing something, but why can't you just push the whole tree down so it's a verticle line and then move it a block to the side 1 at a time and then push them up the same way, then as it gets to the top it just keeps pushing the top to the side creating the line (limagine it as a snake and when it pops it's head out the hole, a machine cuts off the head)

@Wohodix
@Wohodix 8 жыл бұрын
+Lazerjo2000 y seems good, but their could be some offset problem, then you could move up or down the line but it would take some more "ethos really smart piston" so more space, and the thing is already pretty intricate. Go creative and test

+Sam J They would not be able to grow if those blocks were stone. Basically, Oak trees need 1x1 space to grow, (Birch, Jungle, & Acacia) need a 3x3 area, and spruce trees need a 5x5 area. When checking if they can grow they ignore leaf blocks, wood blocks, and I think possibly dirt blocks. So connecting wood blocks to the piston is a trick to reach 1 extra block without having to add more complicated redstone. Also, trees seem to check a 5x3x5 area for free space at their top, and don't seem to check the space at the sapling block level which is why you can put a dispenser next to them.

The thumbnail is random, but the chooser thingy (not entirely sure how it works) just chooses an exciting moment. In this case it's a moment with lots of symmetry, colour, depth, and someone standing right in the middle.

It's possible to manually upload a custom thumbnail, but if you don't it is random. It normally gives you 3 random thumbnails, one near the start, one near the middle, and one near the end, and lets you pick one of them (and it uses some magic to make sure that they're nice looking images).

When editing where ever you leave the cursor it marks that as a Thumbnail. You can also export an image from editing software so he could also do that. Finally there is always screenshots. I think etho picks an image like that just doesn't make fancy ones like DanTDM for example.

I know what you meant! This episode was excellent because we got to see Etho apply his scientific method to a cool problem. He made a lot of progress which is satisfying for us viewers. Contrast with Drobnovian Knights- I don't want to waste 20 minutes watching people stumble through easy problems. Derping is fun in little doses. Success makes for a better episode because we want to root for our heroes!

Hey Etho! 2 suggestions: first of all, if you make both of the lower pistons in your sandwich maker sticky, the last wood block to be moved out of the sandwich maker will be in the same spot each time it fires, and you can detect if there are still blocks in it. While it already seems to work, that might help keep it from jamming. You even have the space for the detector. Secondly, you should add a comparator and a light to tell you when you have items in the overflow chest. Hope this helps :)

Etho, You can make the irondoor pointing towards the sapling and have it connected to a timer so when the machine is ready to grow a new plant the iron trapdoor gets powered off and you place a sapling. The iron trapdoor will block you from placing another sapling and also blocks the leaves from growing in your face.

Id assume its said the same in canada too because its spelled the same... but maybe not.

For the wall convertion thing; You only need 2 pistons. One at the top and one at the side. The one on the very top faces downwards and the one at the side at the bottom of the wall. The top one tries to push downwards but it can't because of the block-push limit. That is until the one at the bottom activates and pushes out the bottom block. Voila.

Every tree has a set pattern that it can pull from to grow. Acacia trees will always have at least one crook in their growth, oak get branches after a certain height, shape of the spruce tree, all of the patterns require different amounts of space.

I would have though that instead of pushing the blocks to the center with the sandwich thing, it would be easier to push then to the top or bottom. I was thinking pushing to the bottom would be better. It would require you to move the tree grower up, but it would also make sure that a tree wouldn't grow until the whole column was open. You would also have to constantly update the tree pusher where the trees are grown. For where the trees are pushed into one row, you could use 5 slime blocks on the side of the trees that would be pushed down by a piston extender that is constantly updated. Also, you would have to have a system that retracts the pistons when there are no more wood blocks that could also power the piston pusher where the trees are grown. I am really excited to see where this project goes and I plan on using it in my world.

For the tree machine, you should make a block push in front of of your vision to add a delay while the tree sandwich is in action. Also, you can detect when it is done by passing a. Redstone signal through the last block to go through.

Hey etho! Try turning the bone meal dispensers off until the wood sandwich is done sandwiching and that should fix your problem! You can use a piston and redstone block to control the bonemeal clock. If you want the farm to be faster though, you should scrap the sandwhich and use a different log converter. They're actually simple to make once you get the hang of them, also remember you don't need one set of Pistons to do everything, but instead a series of Pistons which changes the shape of the wood over time. Great video etho!

Actually, you can (somewhat) choose when to plant a new sapling. Since you need a dispenser to give you a new sapling, you can control the timing on the dispenser. All you have to do is make it wait until the squishier pistons have finished their actions BEFORE it get a new sapling.
@4headgaming448
@4headgaming448 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if this would work, but you might be able to put a piston in front of your line of sight to the dirt block; if you put a timer on it with the amount of time that the sandwich-maker needs to complete the full cycle, you could block the possibility for there to be a sapling to grow before the sandwich-maker is clear. Just an idea that I had! Keep up the great work, Etho!

Etho, i loved this episode! Reminded me of your older videos which were what got me really interested in redstone (which is what keeps me playing minecraft). You tackled the tree farm much different than i would have, but that's what makes this game so great. I would have used a sand tape the pushes the blocks up and out of the way which also takes care of the timing problem, but the sandwicher may be quicker, and i'm sure you'll solve it soon. love the videos =D

Oh Etho, all that work to lower the whole thing and only ending up with the leaves in your face! You should have chosen the easy solution! Just move the wood compressor up to meet the tree farm wherever you want it. The compressor doesn't need to have it's middle right where the blocks are supposed to end up, because it's very easy to move the line down or up after the compressor. If you move the tree farm back up, you have fewer leaves in your way, too.
