Until you mentioned it here, I had absolutely never noticed that the first boss we fight is actually a dragon. The whole dragons adapting to the aether of their vicinity and changing their form thing is so fascinating. I wonder, is that the reason we see such variations amongst the smaller dragonkinds? Because they need to adapt to their environments to survive?

Yes. It can even be for reasons as simple as the dragon's individual desires (like for example Ehl Tou becoming a gwiber with more deft appendages)

I remember the part about the neurolinks also acting as life support, so deactivating them would kill all of the retrained dragons. Same plot point comes up during Warring Triad, if I recall right. But I don't recall it being stated that dragons on Meracydia were completely wiped out. The Allagans conquered them and the dragons that summoned Bahamut were captured and neurolinked, to force them to continually sustain his summoning for the Dalamud plan... So my read on the situation is that there were still scattered members of Tiamat's brood around Meracydia, that she's called up to help out. Though that may just be wishful thinking on my part for if/when we visit the continent; I'd love to see dragon civilization that's just happily existing without centuries of the Dragonsong War influencing them.

It's rather interesting about Fandaniel and the seeds as you say. The only other Ascian that we have dealt with that was really "psychotic" was Nabriales. He didn't care much for Elidibus or Lahabrea breathing down his neck. And he wanted to be front and center and the best of them. It's also rather interesting that both Fandaniel and Nabriales both were on the psychotic end and they both are of the sundered ascians. Which makes me question, why was Ige so tame, was it her loyalty and love for Lahabrea? Even Matron and Lohgrif were tame comparatively to the other two in question. And what of the other ascians that we have not met with as of yet? Pashtarot? Altima? Are they just as crazy as Nabriales and Fandaniel, or more of "We just want our old life back, and the only that we know to do it is to kill a lot of people, sorry".

I think everyone waited until you got back to have *real* discussions about the lore. You always pick out and go over lore points that aren’t brought up very often. Also, I’m betting Estinien’s VA was trying to go for “sweet, brotherly” for everyone that thought he didn’t put enough emotion into his voice.
