Etienne is a really great musician and he has a great fashion sense too I saw and heard him in Seoul, Korea when he came with John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension. I want to know about his music more!!

gloves are part of Atn's equipment in order to get that particular sound (round sound)while playing his bass.

@hecbiz75. An interesting question. Somehow, Jaco's funky, syncopated, mid-rangy 16th note bass lines sound akin to what you hear in West African muisc. It can't be said, exactly how much Jaco was influenced by African music, but it CAN be be said that he has had a huge influence on modern African bass playing. Richard Bona stands out today as the giant of African bass playing; and it is no secret that has been a Jaco-phile since he was a young man in Cameroon.

On the segments he's playing by himself, he sounds a lot like Jaco. Who came first, the chicken or the egg? I know this guy came out after Jaco. But the musical traditions of Africa obviously predate both him and Jaco. So, I guess we all draw from the same roots, eh?
