Thanks again Gabriel for one of your nice reviews. I love the style presenting the pros and cons in a calm fashion occasionally letting some personal touch shine through. Please continue exactly this way. I particularly appreciate that you let us know who paid for the flight, mostly in the description or as in this case additionally pointing it out clearly. The Etihad cabin looks much better than the Emirates one which is way too golden for my taste. I also enjoy attention to detail such as the design of the lamps or the look of the mocktail. One thing I've not been aware of so far: those nice seat maps by Aerolopa which you used on your smartphone. Sure, SeatGuru has the comments on quality but the Aerolopa maps look just great.

Especially because you can see where windows are placed relative to the seat - crucial for getting a good filming position!

The A380 has a laminate aluminium-fibre glass-aluminium fuselage skin. Designed at Delft university. It has excellent acoustic absorbsion properties, as well as being very strong.

Well, Etihad got their money’s worth giving you that business seat due to the quality review you gave them. I think the review was indeed warranted! That was so comfortable just watching during flight, even at home just sitting in front of my iMac! Planes, that big, are not selling in the USA! The Boeing 777X is still having problems and US carriers are not buying. I am sure you will enjoy the Etihad “Super” again if the chance arrives. Thanks - Jim

Well spotted. Yeah it is very useful for travel in general. Quite adaptable because you can move the plug end around. Made by chargeasap. But I’ve seen others that are newer and look even better!

Flew Ethiad, Abu Dhabi - Sydney a few months ago. Nice spacious lounge but the food options were very limited, mostly vegetarian, and very average quality. The business class in the 777 is very dated. Only 1 meal, dinner, on a 14hr flight, no breakfast. Expensive, not good value. Will not fly with them again, lits of other options. Use to be a really good airline - my favourite- but has gone down hill. Give it a miss...

The new Zayed airport does look quite good, but they’re price gouging way too far .. I had to pay more than double what I’d pay for a great coffee in central London, for something very ordinary with sour milk in it .. £8.50 , coffee lovers .. admittedly it’s better than the old AUH , where I got food poisoning before .. Etihad business class is definitely a good product , but their economy products are very hit and miss, depending on the route .. I recently was subjected to the 2nd worst flight of my life from the new AUH to Manila.. it was shockingly bad .. and they shouldn’t treat people (especially paying customers) that way in 2024 .. I don’t know if I’ll bother with them again ..

@@airedition hi.. it’s a bit of a list.. but here goes .. thanks for asking btw Mr Leigh.. so when I got in the queue on the jet bridge waiting to board , I saw the tail plane had the original livery of Etihad’s logo or crest on it .. and realised that it was a VERY old plane.. I last flew on one with that livery in 2012 I think . It was a B777 (-200 if I remember correctly).. and they had that tight 3-4-3 configuration in economy.. That’s not unusual, but the legroom was tighter- I’m 6’1 (185cm) tall , and my knees were pressed up against the seat in front - it seemed less legroom than BA short haul or Ryanair .. and the seat back pocket was half ripped away , so I had zero legroom and had to angle away one leg to avoid a sharp corner digging into my knee/leg.. the aircon seemed to be only working slightly , as it was too hot (not warm) in there the whole flight.. the flight was 99% full - nearly all Filipinos going home , and the crew seemed to be all Filipinos.. that’s not an issue .. but I think to fill up an ancient plane , that was in a really bad condition, just because we were flying to MNL seemed pretty dark and cynical imo .. it was a 10 hour flight , and the food wasn’t up to Etihad’s usual good levels .. it was terrible tbh .. everything seemed to be bad about this flight ,but the plane wasn’t filthy dirty , which seemed a bit strange considering that nothing else was positive about this particular flight .. there was 1 passenger a few rows in front of me , who had an empty seat next him.. he wasn’t Filipino and the cabin manager had to sit down next to him for maybe 30-45 minutes to keep him calm and quiet I guess .. he wasn’t at all happy .. and the crew seemed quite embarrassed by the whole flight .. I did want to complain to Etihad’s call centre, but I forgot to note down the registration of that plane , and workers in these places are generally trained very well to say NO in myriad ways .. I still feel aggrieved about the whole experience, and would like some realistic compensation for 10+ hours of the nightmare we had to endure all night long .. the only positive I can really draw from this flight was that we didn’t crash and die .. and I got to my destination and off that hell flight eventually.. sorry but it was a massive shitshow .. my reasoning for Etihad’s behaviour was that maybe they had to change planes late in the day , and are too cheap to put us all up in reasonable hotels and feed us etc until a ‘normal’ plane(s) became available.. or else they really don’t give a shit ??
