In regards to the ‘ex in the family photo’ story: I fail to see how editing the photos now will change the fact that he didn’t disclose his previous relationship to his current fiancée. She’s seen them, they’ve had the difficult conversation that ensued, she knows the photos will be there going forward. The problem is between her and her husband to be about his omission, it’s not on OP to mitigate the fiancée’s feelings of discomfort.
@mskariuki1234 Жыл бұрын
If you are a guy that’s dated a lot of girls like the OP implies, it would be pretty easy to forget a person or not mention them if they were only together for a couple weeks. I’m guessing he didn’t know the ex was the fiancé’s nemesis either. Otherwise he probably would have shared they had dated. Personally if I was with someone that has dated a whole town, I wouldn’t want to know about every girl, just the ones that made an impact or long term relationships. It is still weird he brought a girl he had only dated for a week to a family wedding and had her in the pictures.
@macersracers7459 Жыл бұрын

It’s not on OP to mitigate their sibling’s relationship! Understandably the fiancée is pissed! He made his bed and now he has to lie in it. I don’t blame the fiancée for reacting the way they did; he tried to downplay the fact that he didn’t tell her about ALL exes… the only a-hole is the OP’s brother, and a bit the parents for not holding him and themselves accountable for the ex being in the pictures.

Oh Morgan… in the IBS world, we have IBS-D (diarrhea), IBS-C (constipation), and IBS-M or A (mixed or alternating). So yes, the BF in story 6 probably has IBS, but is still the asshole for judging/being mad at the OP, and for not being compassionate about her issues, but expecting his own to be accommodated. It is absolutely ROUGH to have only one bathroom when even one person in the relationship has bathroom-related health stuff (let alone both people).
@sheynobles9214 Жыл бұрын
this! as someone that deals with all sorts of IBS symptoms, and had grown up with a stomach disease, I have easily spent hours on the toilet in immense pain to where ive cried. it comes through spouts of coming straight out, to not coming out properly but its there, and moving at all or standing up aggravates it severely. So i don't defend the boyfriend, but regarding your comments about IBS, IBS isn't the same for everyone, and that did irk me enough to skip the rest of that story 😬 But otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed this weeks guest.

When you get married you don’t “lose” a son/daughter, you gain a new son/daughter that you integrate into your family. The wife is not responsible for picking out the MIL outfit, she’s a grown woman. Everyone knows you don’t wear white to a freaking wedding! That MIL is delusional and the husband is a mommas boy 🥴
@UrsulaZA11 ай бұрын
My mum in law was amazing at our wedding - she explained her outfit to me to make sure it would work with the whole theme. She was also so happy (I’m her second daughter in law she has gained with 4 sons) she got another daughter - she literally did my nails and helped my skin problems. You are supposed to gain another family, you are supposed to be a part of the family. If you’re not, please reconsider as this can lead to marriage decay.

For story 1, the gf is absolutely correct that it was racist of him to do this. Most etiquette courses are based off of societal standards that were made to always exclude nonwhite people. Not to mention how rude it is to put someone in an etiquette course without even asking her???
@samanthalowry6021 Жыл бұрын
Yea, I wish they touched on the race portion of this more. He clearly has some ingrained racism, which wouldn’t surprise me if his parents are the ones who ingrained the idea of the “less cultured POC”. I wouldn’t feel comfortable going back to meet this guys parents if not only they, but he too, think I’m lesser than. I don’t think he did it with malice, but he needs to realize in the aftermath why it was so wrong and work harder to educate himself. Upper-class straight white men often don’t realize the struggles that oppressed people face, and then will never fully understand it, but it IS their responsibility to educate themselves and reevaluate their previous viewpoints. ESPECIALLY if he expects to continue to be her partner.

If it were two white people in the relationship the same thing could have happened, but for classist reasons (e.g. working class vs "not" working class in the U.K). my take on the IBS story as someone with pretty bad IBS: there are multiple types! constipation, diarrhea, or combination! I have combination that leans towards D so mooost of the time it runs through fast, but sometimes it really doesn't. That being SAID!! I was diagnosed at 14 and turned 30 this year. I know from my experiences that internal spasming of your muscles during an attack makes it feel like you urgently need to go when there's nothing left in you to give. If he lives in a home with one bathroom, he can't sit there taking up the bathroom the entire time hes spasming. That can last HOURS. If I eat something at dinner that triggers an attack at 7pm, I can be spasming and running back to the bathroom every few minutes just for nothing (or almost nothing) to happen every 10-15 minutes until 3am sometimes. We have one bathroom, and I try to do what I can, clean up, and go lay down. Even if its just for a few minutes until the next spasm makes me go back, that would give my wife a chance to run and pee in between...he should be more considerate of his partner and more aware of his body as an adult in a shared living space.

At the wedding, my BIL’s, we took so many different versions including some without me and my new SIL. At the funeral, my husband’s grandpa had passed, we took versions of his grandma with just the grandkids, then added in great grandkids, the added in spouses, then added extended family. It’s rare to have everyone together, so they take those opportunities to get all the different options.

lol my friend's fiance has IBS and I have never met another human who spends more time in the bathroom, the boyfriend from the story seems a little abusive, prevents her from being able to use the restroom and then punished her for having to find another alternative...

Exactly. He was torturing her and then emotionally abusing her when she was forced to find a way to relieve herself. I think she should leave him. This one has my spidey senses tingling.

NOT MY TWO FAVOURITE PODCASTS! I already know I'm going to love this.

Story 4: The fact that this guy was already dumping all this emotional responsibility in his bride, expecting her to accommodate his mom and make all the decisions is already a huge red flag to me.

William seemed and sounded familiar until I realized that he's the "TikTok proper etiquette guy". He seems far "cooler" in an average setting. Not saying that he's lame or uncool for being an expert in etiquette, I actually think that's amazing. He sounds like a man with a plethora of niche knowledge and I love that. I like that Jordan takes notes. I think we should encourage more note-taking on Two Hot Takes. These two make for interesting guests! I find it fascinating to see how each guest or group of guests handles the stories presented to them. ~ ETA I think the buttplug person is in the wrong. I assume this person is clean, but a butt is still a butt. That's where poop goes. I'm just thinking about the poop particles floating around in there. That's also gross the other way around. Yes the bacteria dies, but I'd feel grossed out and I'd feel like there would be food particles on it (there's likely not but I'm weird). Get a designated pot and boil them (check before doing so), as people do with the various selections of reusable menstrual products. Maybe I'm just weird but the dishwasher should be for dishware alone (or other things that only touch mouths....not elsewhere) Also, dish soap is very strong...I would assume that's ruining their plugs. I don't think that's safe for those.

my thoughts exactly ! i came straight to the comments to see who else picked up on william's and jordan's mannerisms because i loved how they came to the episode to truly be themselves and you can't deny that american/british divide hehe it was so cute and funny to see

I absolutely agree with you about the buttplugs. Poop particles in the dishwasher is disgusting.

The MIL from story 4 is wild. It is so weird that she wanted to be a bridesmaid.She so badly wanted to insert herself into the wedding so badly.

Watching this while doing some cleaning and paused as you're speaking about how many pre-wedding parties/gift opportunities there are these days, so true! But surprisingly my cousin's engagement party is this weekend and for whatever reason in my head I combined engagement party with wedding shower itself (her wedding is two years away loll) and when I asked her outright if she wanted cash or gift cards to any specific store or restaurant for her and her future hubby she told me that we didn't have to get anything for the party. Definitely more of a celebration than a gift opportunity for her at least, but we're still getting them some Target cards because she's a Target girl through and through loll

I have worn a black dress to a fall wedding. Didn't realize you aren't supposed to do that. Edited to add: since when are exposed shoulders wrong at a wedding too? Damn I have broken a lot of wedding rules 😅

OMG Morgan! I’m a Nurse in a Memory Care unit. So I can’t take it personally. I was taking someone to the rest and they let loose a juicy, loose load. They nailed me from my shoes to my waist 🤢 I had to phone my husband to bring me a new set of scrubs and shoes! He was amazing - he waited for me to change and took the soiled items back home and cleaned them all before I finished my shift and returned home. Horrible event, fabulous husband!

my take on the third story: if the brother wants his ex removed from pictures, he should pay for it himself. it is strange that the ex was included in so many pictures since it was, according to the story, a brief and unserious relationship. i guess i'm used to my family's way of doing pictures. we take them in all sorts of combinations of people. for example, we usually have pictures of all the cousins, everyone at the event together, each nuclear family individually, and so on. if the brother's partner is so set on getting the ex removed from the pictures, she should pay for it all herself. regardless, OP is NTA and the family is being weird.
