In this case we have to write SQL queries to verify the data from rdbms systems and Linux/python to handle the data in file system manually or automate . I have covered enough contents in ETL Testing playlist , you must watch and understand. Hope that's helpful. Also you mentioned above , target is SQL developer' which is not correct as target system because SQL developer is client tool used for connecting databases so correct target can Either SQL server , MySQL etc. As these are databases

Yes, this should be implicitly be converted by database engine however there 3 categories of conversation from one to other data type as below 1. Implicit - database engine take care internally and user doesn't need to act on this e.g number to char and vice versa 2. Explicit - user need to convert using cast or convert function E.g varchar to binary etc.. 3. Can't convert like date to time Also it is also a bit specific to database you are using like oracle ,SQL server, Sybase etc..

Lookup transformation is always a left outer join whereas in joiner transformation you can perform all types of joins like inner, left, right and full outer joins.

when it comes to ETL even we have huge data, it can be validated with 100% accuracy. all we need to know is the transformation logic involve and make your test query. your challenge here is not how huge the data is, it is the time needed to complete the execution of your validation query

May be interviewer want to check your understanding on the ETL process so if no data in source , we shouldn't expect any data in target as well until target is holding the historical data. Other way around is always valid scenario where target doesn't have any data so you could validate if any filter or any data rejection while loading in target

Ideally job failure monitoring is done by production support team when job is in production environment. However when you are testing the job and job failure while you running then first things you should analyse and find the preliminary cause of failure and then report the issue to development team for fixing it

If table A=200 record and table B=100 records. What is A minus B & B minus A ?

There is no simple answer for this , it really depends on how much common data between 2 tables . E.g if 50 rows are common means A minus B = 150 and B minus A= 50 records.
