I would be faster to sand slowly cross grain in a circular motion before finishing it up by sanding with the grain. Excellent sander.

It looks pretty impressive and it's on my wish list. Bosch US branch doesn't seem to offer a version that includes the case, and I haven't found a way to buy the case or liner separately.
@Etna.
@Etna. 4 ай бұрын
That sucks. Can't understand why Bosch is harming themselves this way. Maybe you can get those things using Amazon from Europe? Most of the time they ship worldwide. The most important thing to purchase is by the way the Velcro adapter that comes between your sanding mesh and backing pad so you don't destroy your backing pad immediately. Regards, Etna.

Thanks for perfect wrap up! Just what I needed to choose this sander. Could you tell me the number for the hard backing pad - that is not included is it? Also, what vacuum hose adapter do you use to fit the sander to the vacuum? Thanks!
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! The hard backing pad is not included. Bosch is listing it as No 2 608 601 334. I've purchased a Flex vacuum. German brand, made in China. That adapter was included. So far every tools seems to fit to it. You might not get it. A friend of mine uses a Festool adapter on his chinese vacuum and is very happy about it as the adapter is very flexible. I hope that helps! Regards, Etna.

@@Etna. Thanks! Then I will add a hard disc upon purchase. Another thing if you don’t mind. The sanding plate protector, Bosch Professional 2608000690, comes in 2 pieces. I never used these plates and was wondering how many to buy? Do each last for years or is it something that is changed more often? Finally, great with feedback on vacuum hose selection. Do you know the name of the Festool version that your friend are using? I have a Nilfisk machine with standard 57 mm hose connector on the machine side. Thanks again!
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
As they are consumables, they don't last forever but are pretty durable. I keep one on every backing pad and have a pack spare. Nilfisk adapters should fit. Regards, Etna.

Nice video, I enjoyed seeing it put to use for more than a few seconds. I am seriously considering purchasing the 5 inch version this (GET65-5N). Yours shipped in that case? I would like one of those, but as far as I know Bosch does not include one in the US.
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! In Europe the smaller version (GET 55-125) also ships in a box without the Sortimo case. Mine came stock with the case. Considering the small difference price wise, I'd think getting a solo case for your sander might be more expensive than getting the bigger sander with a case. Regards, Etna. P.S.: I am not sure how that would compare to the US market.

Youre one of the only ones that has hinted at anything about reliability of any of the higher end sanders on video..lol. Most Bosch power tools seem to be more... "hey buy us because Bosch" not because they are particularly good. This sander and the double bevel sliding miter saw seem to be the exceptions.

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. I guess it is because I have a love-hate relationship with Bosch power tools. Either they are crap and I can't stand using them. Or I am in love. I have the script ready for a video discussing this. But I have no clue when I come around doing it. Regards, Etna.

I'm very much considering this sander. As a painter I tend to be removing alot of paint refinishing. Just pisses me off that I can't get on with the sortimo case in NA. Also you should try using 3M cubitron extract sanding discs. They are newish I think but I've been using them lately and they are really quite amazing and prices for them in NA are good.

A lot of people complain how Bosch tools come with different accesories from region to region. Some can't even buy the needed adapter pads to spare their backing pad so they buy one from Mirka. Imho they just should switch plugs and voltages. That's it. But I am not Bosch, so... Thanks for the tip! I do like a lot of 3M products. I'll try them out when I need a new pack of sanding discs. Normally I go for the name brand that is the cheapest. Regards, Etna.

Looking into buying this sander for a big project where I have to sand wood ceilings. Do you think this would be a good sander for overhead use?
@Etna.
@Etna. 6 ай бұрын
I always thought that in this case products like the Festool Planex or Bosch GTR 55-225 would be designed for it. Overhead use is no joke and very tiresome. Regards, Etna.

OMG Finally someone is talking about the velcro protection pad! I have searched lots of places but it seems bosch doesn't carry one? May I know which protection pad you purchased, is it the mirka platen protector? Thanks!!
@Etna.
@Etna. Жыл бұрын
Hi! Bosch has their own protection pad listed as Part No 2 608 000 690. At least these are the ones I use. The pads Mirka and Festool sell are blocking a lot of holes so dust extraction won't be the best. Maybe you need to teach your sellers about these? Regards, Etna.

@@Etna. Thanks. Did a search with the part number and looks like this isn't available in North America. Hmm, not sure if it's worth it to order one from Europe and get it shipped over.

That's a bummer. Maybe buying those pad savers from Mirka would be the next best thing. They have at least many hole patterns as a choice. Something might fit okay. I don't get it why they won't sell these things in the US. Regards, Etna.

What is the life span of the sanding disc. I purchased 3 new sanding disc with 2 to spare. By the time i was ready to use one of the 2 they had already deteriorated to useless without ever been used like the one i meant to replace. Have u solved that issue? If not, its best not to buy a backup pad until needed or u will be wasting money.
@Etna.
@Etna. 9 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but I don't understand the issue. What brand of sanding discs are you using? My sanding discs hold up just fine. I'm also using a velcro protection pad between sanding disc and backing pad. Those are quite essential and afaik not available outside Europe. Regards, Etna.

Hi, thanks foe the nice review video,. I am still not sure which one should i purchase! Today i went some professionele shop for check this bosch sander but there wasnt mostly online. I saw flex ore 5-150 ec i like it ergonomie and look solid but have no idea about the brand. So you say with one hands using no problem?
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you want to do. The Flex is more like a Mirka as they are mostly for finer sanding. This Bosch is a sander like a Rotex with a function that allows you to remove almost as much as a belt sander. One hand sanding is possible but not as comfortable as with your mentioned sander. Do you mean the regular Sortimo case or the styrofoam insert? If you don't need the Bosch label, just buy a regular Sortimo case. The insert can be ordered directly from Bosch under parts number 1 600 A01 B72. I hope that helps! Regards, Etna.

Does this model get hot? I have a new gex 150 turbo and it gets hot after 10 minutes of use. Stator has been renewd by bosch (faulty from factory). Ballbearing renewd (faulty from factory). Still gets way to hot after 10 minutes of us. Repair time Bosch (warranty) is 4 weeks each time. Hopeless. I'm used to makita and Festo and never had such issues...
@Etna.

This sounds weird, indeed. I had no issues so far. But I couldn't learn from my prior mistakes and did hand it out to a friend who is renovating. I might need to change bearings and clean it after receiving it back. So, there might be a repair video on my sander. My experience with Bosch powertools in general is, that I either love it or hate it very much. So it really depends on the case. I hope that helps somewhat! Regards, Etna.

Isn't the design awkward to use? So long. Weight not in the middle
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
None of the geared sanders have their center of gravity over the backing pad. It also only seems long due to its slim design. Other sanders have a similar length but are way bulkier. So it is quite the opposite. Due to its slim design the center of gravity moves towards the backing pad. This sander is able to balance as others don't. I chose this one over a Rotex or a BO6050 because it handles much better. You have more grip as your hand comes easier around the housing. And don't forget that you need that leverage to handle the geared mode. This sander is able to remove almost as much material as a belt sander. Regards, Etna.
@nickgoogle4525
@nickgoogle4525 2 жыл бұрын
@@Etna. It _is_ a bad design IMO. It does not balance well (compared to my GEX 125-150 AVE), vibrates much more, is less effective (in random orbital mode). I will get rid of mine and use the GEX again. To remove much material I will use other methods (planing, belt sander, scraper, router or "Metabo Lackfräse"...) I think Bosch did a bad job with this machine, but many seem to like it -- which surprises me very much.
@Etna.
@Etna. 2 жыл бұрын
@@nickgoogle4525, you are comparing apples and oranges there. This Bosch is in comparison with a Rotex or Makitas equivalent much lighter, smaller and thus easier to handle. If you don't need or want a geared sander, then buy a Mirka instead. My bet is that you will be much happier with their orbital sander designs. Regards, Etna.
