I have owned a number of shortwave receivers in my life. None of them were really all that great. I recently got my general class ham license, and, not being a fan of modern computer radios, acquired a 1992 Icom IC-728 transceiver from a guy that had bought it new back then, and taken excellent care of it. This radio has a full coverage triple conversion superheterodyne receiver, and the reception on both AM and SSB is unbelievable. Far better than any of the "consumer grade" shortwave radios I've owned. I got it in near new condition for $300. It's a very basic radio, so if you want a zillion features, it's probably not for you. But if you want a radio with exceptional reception and audio that sounds like a bullhorn, this is it. If you are not a ham, and just want a receiver, this is still the best way to go.

Thank you for this demonstration. I enjoy how you presented this. Seems like the Elite 750 has a wide filter for SSB.

Thank you for demonstrating this, I have been wondering what all these knobs are. I tuned in some ham radio guys with this concept! Can you show more concepts and applications with this radio, still trying to figure out what dx ING is , also will that knob help tune in digital signals for my computer to decode? Thanks and great job, I know this isn't the best radio but it's all I have at the moment and I need to make the purchase worth it.

So, were you attached to an external antenna?
@ron02simpson8 ай бұрын
Are you using an external antenna? Is it necessary to have an antenna stronger than the telescoping one in the radio box?
@woodchuker5706 ай бұрын
Yes, and yes.

They should have a switch to lower the tuning speed for SSB or CW.The stock tuning speed is much to fast for these modes as the tuning speed is 1950s and 1960s technology.Thanks for the demo.

Yeah, it's hard to tune in without a fine tuning control.

I’m thinking of buying this radio via Amazon etc but can’t seem to locate “Eton elite 750” only the “ Tecsun 2000 “ brand …just want to check it’s exactly the same radio ? Would welcome your advice Thank you

same radio, but you are buying a rather bad radio that is too expensive

@@OfficialSWLchannel Could you explain why the Tecsun S2000 is a bad radio please?

Hi all, could anyone comment on whether this would be a good radio for someone wanting to built out a SHTF plan? I would like to keep up with whatever is happening around the country and track government and individual activities but not sure if this is too complicated for a novice user? Hoping for a Red Dawn for Kids type setup, for those old timers that saw the original and fighting back against the Russians, you know what I'm talking about :-) This system looks incredible, just not sure if this is a beginner or something I could grow into?

are there any peripheral antennas available? I live in a valley surrounded by mountains and almost never any signal
@thorpluto45273 ай бұрын
Yes, I have the TECSUN S-2000 (identical in construction) and the radio has 4 antenna input options: 1. the jack above the radio in the middle than on the right side: 2. FM BNC 3. AM BNC 50 Ohms 4. 500 Ohms SW antenne input and ground and you have a switch to select between internal und external antenna on the right side.

I have the Grundig Satellite 750 which I understand is basically the same radio. I'm not too knowledgeable about frequency bands but my radio doesn't have the capability of monitoring 2598. Can someone explain that to me?
@OfficialSWLchannel Жыл бұрын
yes it does, you need to press enter after you do 2598

I’ve hear that this an overpriced brick? It looks solid - why are there so many haters of this radio?
@OfficialSWLchannel9 ай бұрын
It had many flaws including a too wide AM bandwidth that means you always need to use it in narrow mode, it is off by 2 kHz when the wide mode is used , and there is a lot more. it is overpriced
