Eton Elite Executive Multi-Band Radio with SSB

I have had this radio for a little over a year and I do like it a lot. The features that make this stand out for me is the RDS coverage and the ability to name your memory channel banks. I have purchased other Shortwave radios from other vendors over the last three years, each with their own strengths, but I think that Eton has become my ‘go to radio’.

I'm a radio fanatic, and I can attest to this radio being very sensitive and selective on all bands. Air band is outstanding, when you compare it to the CC Skywave or Tecsun 660. It is not a "gimmick" on this radio. For FM dxer's, this radio is as good as its big brother (Eton elite field). I do wish the antenna was as long as the elite field. The field will grab a couple more fringe stations because of it's longer antenna. AM was surprising. It is very sensitive, and did very well up against my CC Radio 3 / CC Radio EP Pro. For it's size, it plays in the big leagues with the big boys.

If select on 9 kHz step, the LW and MW (AM) bands goes from 153 - 1620 kHz. The rest of 1621 - 1710 kHz in 5 kHz step like Shortwave or SSB, you must use telescopic antenna for that.

So do these do well using a 100 ft long wire? I noticed the gain switch is only DX/Local. I have a Tecsun PL-660 and since my other Tecsun radios have all malfunctioned I don`t expect the PL-660 to last.

I have not tried a 100 ft long wire. When I use an external antenna, I hang it among two rooms at about 18 ft although it can stretch up to about 22 ft.

I also bought this radio, but not until I watched your original video and you were using the fine tuning feature did I realize MY Eton Elite Executive was also defective. I do not have that option when I press the tuning dial in. I have squelch and fast/slow tuning - but no option for fine tuning. But, I've had mine for several months now, so no returning it now. Dammit! :-(

Fine tuning only works when it is in Single Side Band mode (USB or LSB). The first slow mode on SSB is 1 KHz stepping and the second slow mode is for fine tuning. In the other words there is Stop, Fast, Slow (1KHz) and Slow (Fine Tune) when you press the tuning wheel. It that works, then the wheel is not defective.

No, all Eton Elite Executive radios come with a case with magnets on the back cover.

I just question how his rating was partially based not having the time display readable in sunlight! Doesn't this hold true for cellphones and other digital displays? C'mon now lol

Yes, but there are other radios with displays can be read even in sunlight because of the black lettering on their LCD displays. My Tecsun PL-660 is a good example of that. Thank you for watching.

That's a tough one. Both of them are great on that band. The Eton Elite Executive is slightly better than the XHDATA D-808 on AM, though.

Best avoided, they are not a bad radio but like all Eton branded radios they are way overpriced and do nothing that an XHDATA d 808 will do better for half the price.

just bought this piece of junk, waste of 200.00, AM horrible my cheap 20.00 sony walkman picks up more stations this can barely pick up locals, the FM band cannot pick up stations close to me and I live in the heart of a big city, all the other bands are dead not one catch...dont buy it...

This is actually my second one. I bought it on sale for $100.00 in 2019, but returned it because the tuning wheel was defective. I waited until earlier this year to buy another one and this time it works. However, Eton radios are hit and miss due to quality control. Thank you for the feedback and for watching. @@tvradio1972 do you live in the city of new york proper, or the outskirts, how is reception on FM are all the signals using the Empire or are there any on 4 times square or the new one world trade center, I am in Philly all our FM signals are in the antenna farm many towers except for wmmr and wppz from center city and wisx and wpen from a small tower way out in the burbs...can you pick up any Philly stations, also can you get LP WOLD from edison....

@@vietnamcombatveteran2274 I live about 15 miles to the west of New York City. I don't know the tower locations of the stations, but I get FM stations well. I can pickup some Philly stations, but only when there is tropo. I do not receive WOLD-LP because it's too far away for it's low power. I get either WEBE or an unlicensed station on 107.9 depending on where I point the antenna.
