Man is unnaturally witty. Explains the amazing songwriting

This guy played at a new bar/venue here in downtown phx few months ago. My dad works at a motel that's literally across the street from this place. Was down there shooting the shit with pops and heard him over the crowd, street traffic, etc. I walked over and put his name into KZbin. "Nose On The Grindstone" was the first song of his I ever heard. Rest was history. Can not get enough of this guy. Found a video of him singing Pink Floyds "Time". Everyine at work knows of Tyler Childers thanks to me. We're all going if he comes back too

I’m form central Kentucky and he did a show down here not too long ago. And I have to say he blew the crowed away. Blew me away. I really want him to release some new music to jam too. He’s definitely my favorite artist to this point and I love county. But he blows me away. Has an amazing selection of songs for every mood. And being from Kentucky I understand everything that comes out his throat.

"Discovered" him last night on KZbin. Now three of his songs are on my car playlist and repeated for my inside the Beltway Northern Virginia Lyft passengers :) I keep the volume down, you know. Why spit out a tip I don't have yet? He's a performer. And I like some of his songs but not all, musically. But his lyrics cut to the bone and use idioms I don't quite get not being from there. He is not like his heroes like Lynyrd or CCR. Those were pop bands. And CCR had no connection with the South or Country at all, they just sounded like they did. Lynyrd has a surface patina of southern soul, but they were a pop band. What does "Take my troubles to the highwall" mean? Or "Cast your troubles on the Lord of Lord's, Or wind up laying on a coolin' board." What's a cooling board? Something from Faulkner? They seem like Appalachian idioms/talk that Lynyrd would never put into a song since most folk, like me, wouldn't get it. But hearing it, and kind of knowing what he's talking about (I'm not an idiot) makes it fresh and interesting and seems to go well with the music which is also not at all like Lynyrd or CCR.
@cameronmorrison92135 жыл бұрын
Cast your troubles on the lord of lord’s is just basically confessing and accepting your sins to the lord. Or wind up laying on a coolin board means something about dying because god has decided that your time is over. At least that is my take
@cygnusx-13185 жыл бұрын
@@cameronmorrison9213 I looked up cooling boards. It's where corpses are put, which I got from the contest but never heard about.

"Take my troubles to the highwall" is talking about drugs and being high because after that he says throw em in the river and get your fill which means drown out your problems by getting your fill of drugs and hitting that high wall where your problems can't bother you

It's possible to both honor coalminers and understand that the industry itself is dying and needs to go. It's not so black and white. The coal industry hasn't treated it's miners that well either, but I understand that people need to feed their families and make a living.

@@laribeeswatson6937 I feel incredibly sorry for people like you. Willfully ignorant and reactionary towards any discussion or olive branch that might lead to reconciliation and lasting solution. I guess you're unaware that Coal Country is being torn apart by opiate addiction and deep poverty. West Virginia is suffering badly. I should know, I have family and friends there. These are people I genuinely care about but all you can do is reply with weird accusations of communism. I guess people like you need an made-up enemy to hate. It's so sad.
