Thank you for pointing out that the 'Spring Wraps' or 'Retainers' go toward the Front on BOTH Axles!

My retainer clips that hold the springs together corroded and is gone, does etrailer sell replacement spring retainer clips? What is the part number? I understand that the new clips will need to be closed around the springs in place. Would it be better if each leaf spring set had 2 of these retainer clips? One on front and one on rear of the same leaf spring? I am about to replace all shackles and equalizers on my 7k dual axle 4 tires total trailer.

How about hammering the bolts into the shackle before putting them on the trailer. That would be easier. Just lay the shackle on something with a deep hole in it and drive the bolts into it then put the shackle into the equalizer and spring and tighten the nuts.

One tip.. hammer the bolts in the equalizer straps before you insert them into the spring/equalizer. Makes it much easier.

great video. is is ok if the equalizing stays like it is at the end of the video with one side almost touching the frame with the boat on the trailer?

Hello, I took the tires off in my rear axle of my trailer and now the equalizer is totally cocked and One Direction and my hubs are so low of the ground. I can’t put the tires back on how do I rebalance that equalizer so that my rear axle hubs are off the ground enough so I can put the new tires on.

Question. The trailer started out with the spring ends at the equalizer being below the equalizer arm. And when fin shed the spring ends are above the equalizer. Which is correct and why different ?
@etrailer Жыл бұрын
What you see at the end of the video is how you want them, with the spring eyes sitting above the equalizers. When the trailer is jacked up, and especially when the components are worn, they'll sit below the equalizer. This sorts itself out once the wheels are put om and the trailer is placed back on the ground. It will also sometimes happen if you hit a large pothole or bump, but once again it'll work itself back into place.

Why do the spring retention clips need to go towards the front of the trailer when installing them?
@etrailer8 ай бұрын
The rebound clips you speak of are there to combat axle wrap experienced during acceleration or hard braking. They're typically installed near the front of the springs for maximum effectiveness, although not everyone agrees that they won't be effective if they're on the rear of the spring.

@@etrailer Thank you for the detailed feedback!! I will follow the rule of thumb and be sure to put my new spring rebound clips on the forward side.

I know this is a dumb question because in the video you have the trailer off the ground but does it matter if the trailer off the ground or on the ground when you measure the distance?
@etrailer6 ай бұрын
It's not a dumb question at all! You'll want to take that measurement with the axle hanging freely. That's the only way to get an accurate length measurement.

Which side is considered the “left side” of the trailer ? Driver side?
@etrailer4 ай бұрын
That's correct. The driver's side is the left side with the passenger side being the right side. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Leaf-Springs/etrailer/e22YR.html
