Butt connectors are a train wreck waiting to happen. It's not if but WHEN they will fail from vibration and corrosion. Soldiered with shrink and a layer of tape provides best chance for a long service life.

Agreed…… I am redoing my connections after maybe 1,000 miles of use

What Guage wire do you use from brake assembly to brake assembly.
@etrailer3 жыл бұрын
We recommend using 10 gauge wire when installing brake assembly on a trailer. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Dexter-Axle/23-105-106.html www.etrailer.com/Wiring/Deka/10-2-1.html

Hey there I'm a newb, at the end you made sure that there was contact for the entire rotation, is that for a baseline setting? Then when it's hooked up to the brake controller the pads are released? Great vid, the ending just seemed a tad counterintuitive. Thanks, bud!

You want the brakes to be just barely touching the drums when adjusting them. This will ensure that you have fast and sure braking ability when you apply the brakes. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Dexter-Axle/23-105-106.html

Can these magnet arms be modified/upgraded to also operate with a manual pull cable?
@glenndespres53173 жыл бұрын
I would be looking for a response to this also. Camping trailers all have those emergency cables.

The brake controller in the vehicle towing the trailer will send the desired pressure to the brakes on the trailer. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Dexter-Axle/23-105-106.html www.etrailer.com/fitguidebc.htm

What was the torque rating?
@etrailer3 жыл бұрын
The recommended torque setting for the brake assembly is 45 to 50 ft lbs. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Dexter-Axle/23-105-106.html

That is NOT the Dexter brake assembly I have on my trailer. My DEXTER Electric Brakes backing plates, have 4 bolts pre-installed in them, that go through the 4 holes on the DEXTER axles mounting flange. Their 6 lug Dexter axles. However I cant tell what their load rating is. The sticker on the axle has long since disappeared. Its a two horse slant load, steel trailer....WHY DOESN'T YOUR COMPANY SELL MY VERSION OF ELECTRIC BRAKES?????
