Today in our camper, we will be taking a look at and installing the Optronics LED low profile combination taillight with licence plate bracket on the driver's side. Part number RVSTL61. This is what our old incandescent tail light looks like, and this is what our new Optronics LED taillight looks like. The Obtronics LED taillight is the perfect replacement for your old incandescent taillight. It's longer lasting with no bulbs to replace, more efficient, and provides a brighter light with less power. The license plate bracket is included, and a soft white light illuminates your license plate. The light itself measures 8 and 11/16 of an inch long, by 3 and 3/16 of an inch tall, and it's 2 1/8 inches deep. It is DOT compliant. Now that we've got our inaudible 00:00:42, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed.
The first thing we need to do, is go ahead and remove the old lens. We're going to push in on these detents here and we're going to just gently pull it off. Just like that. Then we can just remove the casing,so I'm going to take my Phillips head screw driver and you want to be sure to save the hardware because we're going to be using it for our new taillight. Now we can go ahead and remove our old taillight. Now for this light, I've got a side marker light running off of this here, but I'm going to cut below this.
If you don't have this set up, you can cut anywhere you want. Now these two wires are the same, they we're just tapped in to. We'll just cut it right about here. For this one, same exact thing, we're gonna cut it after our side marker, and then same thing here. Now for this set up here, I know that the red is my turn signal, the two white wires are my ground, and the two green wires are my power. Lets go ahead and strip them.
Now for wiring up our new taillight, we're going to be using some heat treat butt connectors. That's going to be part number DW05745-5. Now since our green wire is the same wire, we're going to combine it on one end of the butt connector, and then same thing with our white. Since our red wire, our turn signal, is just going to be a single wire, we're going to be using a smaller sized butt connector. That's going to be part number DW05743-5. So we'll take our new LED light, we've already removed the covers, you can see there. We'll hook our green up for our running, or our power light, we'll do white for our ground, and then black for our turn signal.
Now that those are all connected, we can just use our heat gun and shrink those all up. Or you can just use a lighter. All right, then we can just feed our wires back in. Now we can replace our lens cap. We'll take our license plate light first and we're going to slide it into the grooves on the bottom, bring it around, and then just clip it on. Then we can just replace our license plate, and then we've got it. Let's go ahead and test it out. Here's our running lights, our brake lights, and our blinker. That's going to complete our look and install of the Optronics LED low profile RV combination taillight with license plate bracket on the driver's side. Part number RVSTL61.
