Today on our 2017 Hyundai Tucson we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class Two Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 36572. As you can see, the cross tube is completely hidden behind the bumper. The only thing you can see is your receiver tube. It's gonna be a class two. It's gonna be 1-1/4" by 1-1/4". Hitch pin hole is gonna be 1/2" in diameter.
inaudible 00:00:29 aerodynamic safety chain plates here are very thick. You're going to have plenty of durability when hooking up your safety chains. It's tucked in back behind the bumper so you don't have to worry about hitting your legs on it, but it still gives you plenty of space to be able to get to your hitch pin. Now, this is gonna have a 300-pound max tongue weight, which is the downward force on the inside of the receiver tube. It's gonna have a 3500-pound max trailer weight, that is the trailer and the load included. I do recommend checking your owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can withstand that amount of weight, and you're going to want to pick the lowest number between the hitch and the vehicle. Now we will give you a couple measurements to help you when deciding on any hitch inaudible 00:01:08 accessories you may need such as a bike rack or cargo carrier.
The center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the bumper will be about 4". From the ground to the top innermost part of the receiver tube will be about 16-1/4". Now let's show you how to get this installed. First thing we need to do to start our installation is we're gonna remove these plastic panels. You've got one here on the passenger side and you're going to have one over on the driver side. We're just going to take a screwdriver, pop these little plastic tabs, and we're going to set these aside because we're going to put them back on.
Here on the driver's side, I'm gonna do the same thing. So we want to remove this rubber hanger right here. Now, per the instructions it's not necessary. You don't have to, but it will make it easier when you go to put your hitch in. I'm just taking a pry bar so that I can wedge this off inaudible 00:02:13.
That will just give us a little extra room. These are two attachment points that we're gonna use and we're gonna use these two. What I suggest doing is because these are open to the weather, is that you go up and take some lubricant, spray it in the holes, take a brush, and then we're going to repeat that same process on the other side. I suggest taking a bolt, one of your bolts that come in your kit, and just hand thread it up in there to make sure you have your threads clean. And I would do this on both sides on all of the mounting points, that way you don't strip out a bolt or strip out the threads inside the frame here. Now with an extra set of hands, we'll put our hitch into place. Again, our passenger side, we're going to feed the hitch over top of the exhaust, then we're going to put our remaining hardware in. What we're going to do is we're going to take a bolt, a conical toothed washer, you want to make sure the teeth on the washer are facing in toward the hitch. Now, as we're putting our hitch up, there's going to be seven total bolts: four on the passenger side and three on the driver. A little trick, if you take your socket and a paper towel to keep your bolt from sliding down inside your socket, put it right over the top and then take your bolt head and put it on top of the paper towel. Now that we have all of our hardware in place, we're going to use a 5/8" socket and we're going to tighten all the way down, and then we're going to repeat that process on the other side. Now that we have all of hardware in place, we'll torque it down to the specifications in the instructions. Now that we have our hitch torqued down, we can put our exhaust back in place. We're going to put our plastic panels back in place, and that'll do it for the Draw-Tite Class Two Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 36572 on our 2017 Hyundai Tucson.
