What if on my water heater the bolt on the bottom I have water leaking from there is that normal ? I believe it’s a heater anode ? Please any input
@etrailer13 сағат бұрын
It sounds like it's the anode rod, there might be some gunk or corrosion on the threads. Start by cutting the power to the unit and turning off the water pump(s). Open all the faucet taps to relieve the pressure in the tank. Use a wrench to remove the anode rod. There will be some residual water left in the tank, and it could be hot so be careful. If the rod is more than 75% consumed, you should replace it. Make sure the threads on the heater and anode rod are clean and free of debris and corrosion before reinstalling or replacing. You'll want to use thread sealer or teflon tape on the threads. Be sure to use tape or sealant that's rated for use with potable water. I hope that helps, please let me know how it works out!

Using a multimeter to check if the panel is getting voltage would be the logical starting point. If this is a gas water heater, it's recommended to have a professional check it out if you're not comfortable dealing with gas appliances.

If it's gas only then you probably turn it on at the gas valve behind the outside water heater access door. Obviously, have your propane tanks hooked up and turned on first. You may need to bleed the lines of air (light a cooktop burner) in order for propane to reach the water heater.
@jonathanpolinkas255 Жыл бұрын
No one ever talks about that the valve on the propane tanks are double seating valves. It needs to be all the way open or all the way closed make sure propane doesn't leak out around the valve stem. So make sure that you run the valve all the way open when you are using gas, and all the way closed when you are turning it off.

My water heater can use either electric or propane. I've been using only electric, meaning I turn on the switch there at the water heater and do not turn on the switch in the rig panel for gas. If I want to use gas for it, do I turn on the switch on the inside panel and leave off the switch at the water heater itself?
@etrailer2 жыл бұрын
You would want to be sure to check in your owners manual to see exactly how your water heater works. From our experience, you will need to turn the switch on your water heater on and the water heater activation switch on the inside of the camper. You will also need to turn your propane on so that the water heater is getting the fuel it needs. www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-RV_Water_Heaters.aspx

@@etrailer I have a Dometic Atwood water heater. I have two issues. (1) I can’t locate the on/off switch on the unit so I’ve been turning on the Water Heater LP Gas on the interior panel. Occasionally, it’s lukewarm but never hot. My 81 mother keep complaining of the cold water showers. (2) The water heater is heating up via propane (I can touch it without burning my fingers) but NO hot water flows from any faucet. I can’t tell which way to turn the COLD shut off valve at the water heater . Since we get lukewarm to cold water, I’m thinking the valves aren’t turned in the right direction? I’ve watched videos on the direction of the cold shut off valves with no luck. Could all this be a different issue? My heat sensor has been cleaned & it doesn’t look burned out. I was able to light it but it burned off after approximately 10 minutes. I’ve also cleaned the flume, vent, flame adjustable air vent pipe of dobbers and debris. Suggestions are kindly appreciated. Sorry for the long message.

Great video but I wish you would have addressed: is there a pilot light or how to reset it. Why did my propane alarm go off in my trailer?
@etrailerАй бұрын
Let's start with the alarm. There's a couple possible reasons why it's sounding. Either there's a leak, the batteries in the detector (not all of them have internal batteries) have gone bad, the detector itself is going bad or finally, there isn't enough power reaching the detector. What's the brand and model number of your water heater?
@gomez619 Жыл бұрын
Hello, I am new to the RV Trailer game: So, I can turn on the water heater for about 15 minutes before a shower and I will get hot water? and then I can turn it off? Also, has anyone switched from this water heater to a tankless??? Is it better? Faster hot water? thank you all!
@etrailer Жыл бұрын
You can do that, but be aware that the length of time it takes for the water to heat can vary by heater capacity, the brand and by the ambient temperature. A tankless heater will heat the water almost immediately, but that flow of hot water can be limited so you wouldn't want to use a dishwasher or run hot water at the sink while somebody's showering. Other than the added initial expense vs a standard water heater, that's really the only downside to a tankless heater.

Yes, you can just let the gas hot water heater just run,… but why would you want to? It’s noisy at night cycling on and off for you AND YOUR NEIGHBORS. It burns your propane and costs you money. It wears out. If you are not using water during the day while fishing or recreating, why run it? Turn it on when you get up or return from activities it takes ten minutes,… not a big deal. Be a better neighbor and save a propane trip AND MONEY! Sleep interruptions suck for you AND YOUR NEIGHBOR...
