Howdy, neighbors. This is Ian with etrailer here. We've got the Tekonsha four-pole that we're gonna be installing today, so let's get into it. With this Tekonsha four-pole harness, this is gonna allow you to hook up to any trailer that's gonna have your running lights, turn signals, or brake lights. It also will work with any cargo carrier that's gonna have the same four-pole wiring as well. This harness is great because you're gonna be able to tuck this away when you need to just have it gone.
You don't want it catching on anything, you don't want it dragging on the ground causing you further issues. So to tuck this away, you're just opening up as normal. Cargo carrier spare tire door opens up here, and then you can just throw that in there anywhere you need to. If you wanted to throw maybe a wrap on it so that way it's all in one place, that'd be fine as well. But as far as hooking back up to the trailer once you're ready to go or whatever accessory you're using, that just sets nice and easy there.
Close your cargo carrier, and then the rear hatch as well sits nice and flat, so that way you can hook back up and get back on the road. We do have factory type connectors as far as the T for the brake lights, running lights, and turn signals. We'll show you that in the install of how those all just quick connect to make it super easy. There's no tying in through butt connectors or any type of splice there. We also have a control module that's gonna prevent any back feeding from your trailer or accessories that would cause damage to the factory wiring, prevents that type of issue, and then we do have a 10 amp fuse up front just in case there is that situation where we have a battery spike or something of the sort.
That'll just keep everything protected through the system. This install is not that difficult. I would say in your driveway probably take a couple hours at most, but if you're not feeling like tackling this once you've seen the video and think this may be too much for you to handle, we do have the option for our dealer connect network that's gonna get you somebody that is a trained professional to be able to get into this. But otherwise, if it's something you think you can handle, just stick around and we'll get you squared away. As some prep work for our install, we do need to remove this panel from underneath.
There's just gonna be two little push pin types that have these Phillips heads in the middle. It's just gonna back out, and then we'll be able to pull the push pin once they're backed out a little. You may have to just kinda work that as it's coming down so that way it releases properly. Sometimes you gotta just give 'em a little love as they're coming down so that way, it's nice and smooth. Once we've got these two fasteners removed, it's just gonna pull down. There's two tabs up at the top. Sometimes the hardware will come off with it, but they just snap back into place if they do happen to come off. We've got this grommet, we're just gonna pull that out. Should be able to just do that by hand. We'll work around the edges until that whole thing's out 'cause we are gonna be running our fish line up through here to run the wiring up. So there's gonna be three fasteners that are inside of our spare tire hideaway here. They are the same type of fasteners that we inchesre on the bottom with the Phillips head. If you just back those out real slow, I found that they do come apart a little easier than we had dealt with on the bottom. Grab and kinda start prying away at the edges for this to pop loose. Just wanna make sure we keep an eye on everything around our clasps. So through the same grommet hole that we pulled out where the existing wiring's going through, we're just gonna run a fish line or something like that so we can get our wiring pulled down. To remove the taillight, there's just gonna be two Philips heads here. We'll just get those pulled off, and then once those are off, there's locking tabs just kinda like that same back panel that we'll pull away from in order to get this removed. Find that light rocking motion and then getting under these tabs here. Once you've got this pulled loose, there is a connector that's just a little push tab right here at the back. Pulls apart, and we'll set this off to the side for now. As far as getting all of this harness down there, we do wanna get these green and reds down there, and then the yellow and brown. So what I've done is just kind of taped those ends up so it's gonna be easier t
