I have the Thule Pro receiver hitch 2-bike rack for my SUV. It's an amazing rack and it's mounted on my SUV April - October every year. I am soon buying a new truck and this rack will be perfect for me so I can haul a bike or two in my new truck without having to remove the Thule Pro from my SUV.

I would NEVER carry my bike on the roof of a car or in a hitch mount. That's insane. I'd be freaked out worrying about it flying off or me getting hit in the back by another driver and my bike costs twice as much as my car does! LOL Thanks for this review.

Will this work with a bike with front and rear fenders?

Unfortunately the Thule Insta-Gater isn't compatible withbikes equipped with fenders. The fender will prevent the rack from getting a good grasp on the bike which could result in you losing the bike while running down the road. Which would be bad. Inno makes the # INRT201 Velo Gripper rack that holds the bike by the frame, which would be a better choice for you. www.etrailer.com/Truck-Bed-Bike-Racks/Inno/INRT201.html

No issues with remaining upright? I don’t like that it’s only secure on one end. I guess I could bungie it down as well if I wanted.

Yes, true, temporarily, but it is easy to take in and out. Anytime a bike is back there I am usually not carrying other stuff--save that for a different trip.

@@northstar8411 that's too bad. that means you don't do bike vacations. my wife and i can store 4 bikes above our retractable tonneau cover, then loads of gear in the bed. And "temporarily"... what? I haven't taken my bike rack off my truck for 20 years (no lie, the rack has been on my last truck and my current truck).
