I think the Superbowl beers helped with the parking there - no troubles! If I'm remembering well there's a pretty road to the south of Banja Luca. I think it was one of the function keys which allows you to adjust your seat.

F4 to find seat settings. Quite a nice truck. They're a bit unusual as they don't have mirrors, they have cameras instead with tablets displaying the image you'd usually see in the mirror. In the real world, this is done to reduce drag and improve fuel economy. Can make the trucks look a little strange though, as if they have no ears 😂.

We always have a Super Bowl event, me and my friends, but the game kicks off at 00:30 so those are always long days and one or seven beers always gets consumed. I think I would have a hard time driving anything after that...I actually watch NFL regularly, following the Steelers mostly but I have seen the Vikings live in London.

Hey Mike, Just wanted to say that I've been really interested by your channel and found your employee training experiment that you began on the old channel particularly relevant to me. I've been playing ETS2 for a few weeks now (I've reached level 24), and I've been trying something similar, and I do have a few comments on your results and methodology. First of all, I know you haven't tried the automated "Balanced" option including Eco (rather than balancing it yourself). I've actually found that my driver on the fully auto option has given me the highest profit of any (about €8/km with 14 skill points)! For comparison, a driver I started at the same time who focused on Distance, High Value and Fragile (who has 15 skill points) tends to sit around €5/km. The second thing is, you talked in Ep 120 about your drivers getting return jobs. I think this is critical, and the big difference between the AI drivers (who always need to get a job back to their base) and your main driver (who doesn't) in terms of the effectiveness of a Long Distance strategy. That chance of coming home empty is, as you say, a HUGE factor in determining profitability, and I have to assume it ISN'T random, as more experienced drivers only rarely miss out. So you have to look at prioritising the skills that allow extra jobs. The first skill point in High Value and Fragile makes new jobs available, as do the first TWO points in Just In Time - Important, then Urgent - and of course each ADR point. Long distance increases your choice of outbound jobs, which is why it's good for your main driver, but never helps with the AI's return job (as it's always the opposite of the outbound). Thirdly, I wonder if your results were affected by the way you set up your test garage. It's in Munich, which is pretty central, with lots of destinations within even a fairly short range. A base more in the boondocks may make distance points more of a factor. And the fact they're all in the same garage may also mean your AI drivers are competing for the best-paying jobs, especially (say) ADR 1 or 2, as several of them are gaining those same skills in the same order, which may limit the efficiency of that strategy. Finally, the fact that you didn't provide them with any trailers may tilt the odds towards cargo types that need specialist trailers provided by the logistics firms (like ADR), whereas a curtainsider in your garage might enable a lot of jobs where safety skills are less of a premium, but which might still be rush jobs or high value. Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. Keep up the good work, and I'll keep watching! All the best, Gary BTW, as a long-time Hitchhiker's Guide fan, my favourite detail is that you called your cat Trillian.
@ZillaBlitzPC
@ZillaBlitzPC 4 ай бұрын
These are great comments, and yes, the more I think about the experiment the more I think there are lots of other variables that we aren't controlling for and could explain some of the results. Not to mention that it really is a small sample size, too. I do think in general it points to just setting AI drivers on Balanced and forgetting about them, but as you mention it could be a different story if the garage is more isolated than Munich is. It all really comes down to not knowing the equation for how the game calculates all this stuff. :) And I'm glad you like the cat's name! Such a fun series. :)

I'll get a mod list set up for ETS2 once 1.50 comes out (that's when ProMods is planning to merge with the West Balkans DLC.) I'll give you my whole list, as I did with ATS, and some little quips and recommendations about each major mod. For recommendations of mods to look into for ETS2 (these are the ones I'd consider to be larger or more "essential), you'll want to look into RusMap, Volga Map, SRMap (Southern Region), SibirMap, Maghreb Map (has a couple issues I'm not sure they've fixed yet, but it's really high quality when it works haha), Road to Africa, Road to Asia, and Java Road Revolution (JRR). Those mods together will give you a MASSIVE expansion of the game world. RusMap, VolgaMap, SRMap, and SibirMap are all mods covering Russian areas, they are all of decent quality (including some really nice parts), and they all add a moderate to significant number of cities to the map. RusMap is the only one you need to connect ProMods to The Great Steppe, but I recommend each one of them. Road to Africa is mostly a long stretch of road from the north of the African side of the Red Sea, heading south several hundred miles, and then heading inland and eventually north back up to the Mediterranean. If I recall correctly it starts north of Hurghada, goes south to around Port Sudan, Inland as far as Niger, and then north to Tripoli. VERY different atmosphere. Lots of long desert dirt roads. Very bumpy. It also used to have the eastern side of the Red Sea as well going down to Jeddah, but I don't think it does anymore. They are going to add that to Road to Asia in a future update I think. Road to Asia contains a HUGE amount of territory including cities in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, China, South Korea, North Korea, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, and Iran. Some areas take creative liberties, especially North Korea as you can't really properly map that, but RtA has some SERIOUSLY impressive cities, like Seoul and Ashgabat. Massive recommendation, even if some of it isn't the most realistic possible, there are more than enough strong locations to justify it, and again... a very different atmosphere from Europe. Java Road Revolution covers a good chunk of Indonesia, and is VERY detailed. Driving through Jakarta was one of the most interesting drives I think I've done in ETS2 mods. Highly recommend. Maghreb Map adds a decent chunk of northwestern Africa, including Tangier. Very highly detailed and very accurate, but last I heard it had a conflict with another mod causing signs to go blank. I haven't tested it myself in 1.49 yet, but I'll report when I test it in 1.50. Also very recently a road connection and fix for issues between Maghreb and Road to Africa came out, so the two should play nicely together now haha. Again, I haven't tested it yet but I will in 1.50. Avoid this one for now, but keep your eye on it. There's also one other Russian Map, Kirov Map, but I haven't tested the free version in some time and am not sure yet how well the road connection to the other mods works. Will test in 1.50. I would recommend adding all of them except Maghreb when you do return to ETS2 modded, but especially all the Russian maps, Road to Asia, and Java Road Revolution. This isn't the full list, but if you wanted to try any of the big ones out, the order I'd probably use is, top to bottom (NOTE: I haven't tested this yet, but it's very similar to what I ran without issue in 1.48): Above all other mods: Jerry's Fullscreen World Map (ETS2) Zoom Crash Fix (May or may not be necessary. I say skip it unless you have crashes when zooming in on the map) ProMods Complete Afroeurasia Background Map Now the maps: Universal Fix&Localization (fixes some localization and flag icon issues with other mods) ProMods-RusMap RC (if the ProMods version isn't up to date, use the RusMap version) RusMap-def RusMap Map RusMap-model Israel-Lebanon Open Borders Road to Africa - ProMods Middle-East RC Gaza Re-Added (new one, haven't tested yet but the modder does solid work. Gaza was removed from PM:ME for... well, obvious reasons. But I personally add it back to the game.) Hey @ZillaBlitz2ndGear , I've recently heard about a slight issue in the load order for ATS mods, but it's fixed if you move Reforma Sierra Nevada ABOVE the ATS Expansion mod in the load order. If you don't use ATS Expansion there's no issue. I'll edit my other comment with the load order I'm using to reflect this change.

Thanks! I was just doing these today. What is the ATS expansion, though? I added the Great Mid-North Expansion, I think, based on the mods you mentioned in that list. Is that the one you mean? The list was really helpful, by the way. I've got Alaska all connected the Great Mid-North Expansion and the Great Mid-North Expansion all connected to Promods. The three utilities at the top were helpful as well. :)

@@ZillaBlitzPC ATS Expansion is the one that adds a lot of small farms, industry, and villages to some of the base game states. There's a slight compatibility issue with Sierra Nevada but it is in the process of being fixed, likely for the next version of ATS Expansion. It used to be called Montana Expansion but it now adds content in a few different states. Great Mid-North is the one for middle America and western Canada. So if you're not using ATS Expansion (formerly Montana Expansion), you're fine to leave Sierra Nevada where you had it before.
